Not very often.
Not because I'm like, "ANTI-DLC RAAAAAEG", just because I'm lazy.

Only if it's on sale and I feel it's worth it. Case in point: Battlefield Bad Company 2: Vietnam. At 5 bucks and a dime, I couldn't pass up what was almost a proper game in its own right.

Only for really good games and if the DLC is well received. I will almost never buy costume packs (only did it once for MK9) because those are not worth it or map packs since I don't play multiplayer for FPS games. What I would buy is expansion packs that add to game play like the undead nightmare for RDR or the Da vinci disappearance for Assassins creed brotherhood.

I buy DLC but only if it seems like it's worth it.
I'll never buy character skins because that wouldn't add any replayability or longevity to the game. I usually don't buy map packs for FPSs either because they're always too expensive. If they were cheaper I might.
DLC like the stuff for Oblivion and Mass Effect were great because they added lots of new content, especially the Shivering Isles. That was just amazing.
Undead Nightmare for RDR was also great and totally worth the money.

I buy DLC when the individual piece of DLC will provide true value to me. For instance, I bought the hated $15 map packs for MW2 because I easily put multiple days of play time in each individual map pack and to me the amount of time I spent, and the fun I had with the game warranted the cost. I haven't bought dlc for a lot of other games because I haven't seen the value in it. To me a $60 game should last at least 80 hours of total game time (not necessarily unique game time, replay works) and as I scale that down if I think that a $10 or $15 piece of dlc will provide 20 hours of time I'll get it.

I save, wait for something I think I'll really want, or if its for a game I really like. Not like that Shadow Mode crap for Marvel Vs Capcom or the $6 it cost for Jill or Shuma. But for extra maps/skins in Uncharted 2 maybe because that actually seems worth it to me for $5.

Yup, all the time.
If I like a game I'll basicly buy every piece of DLC it has.

Exceptions are: overpriced map packs.
item packs you can obtain in game
other stuff I feel isn't worth the price.

I will never buy DLC full price, either from a store (like in the extra disc) or online. I have, however, bought a copy of Fall Out 3 GOTY just recently and plan on buying the Oblivion 5th year anniversary edition (which will include all of the DLC) when it comes out. Outside of special editions (and only when I no longer have a copy of that game) DLC is too much of a rip-off/scam for me to spend my money on.

It all depends whether I think it's worth it or not and how much I love the game it's for. For example, I don't buy the SSFIV costume packs because they're overpriced and expensive, adding nothing to the gameplay. However, the same could be said for the costume packs for ME2, but I go ahead and buy those because I love that game.

However, if the dlc adds a considerable amount of content for a game I love, I usually go ahead and get it.

Only for Civ V, because they're so cheap. Except for that, I buy them when they're included in GOTY-editions.

Care to clarify with a couple of examples?
all the fallout 3 ones, most of the mass effect 1 &2 ones(if you liked mass effect which i did), im not sure if you consider dead rising case zero a DLC, most of the dragon age ones especially stone prisoner and the morrigan one, zombie apoc for red dead, all the magicka ones ae worth it if you like to add more crazieness to the game, i felt the new vegas DLCs were worth tso far. anything that is more than cosmetic and adds at least an hour to gameplay for a reasonable price is generally worth it if the game its built on was already good. if your not interested in playing the game over again already or putting in more time its generally not wort the effort.

Only get DLC that actually adds content, like missions or characters, not weapons, items or maps, unless they were like the magika DLC, for like a dollar. I paid for the DLC to ME2, added a few more hours of fun, was worth it.

Thing pisses me off is the bioware points crap, like you have to buy points then use the points to buy DLC, WTF, and the points required arent round numbers, so now i have like 75 bioware points i cant use that i paid for.

Seriously bioware, fuck off the shitty "points" bullshit, its a waste of time and i doubt i will be using it again.

I don't mind DLC at all. well ok, 14.99 for a fucking mappack is fucking ridiculous and I'll never shell out for that much. but 9.99 and below, sign me up.

depends on the game. I've gotten useless dlc before like the fallout 3 dlc for example, but then there's awesome dlc like Minerva's Den for Bioshock 2, and basically every piece of dlc for Resident Evil 5. So now I'm very cautious about what kind of dlc I get but if it really looks good then I will probably get it.

Well, for Mass Effect 2 I've purchased most of the DLC. I've only ignored a few of the gear packs.

For Dragon Age: Origins I ended up waiting for the Ultimate Edition, rather than purchase DLCs individually.

For Borderlands I've only purchased DLC during the appropriate Steam sales.

How I go about things depends on multiple factors... including price point, if the DLC is "significant" (actual playable content, or just a piece of gear - and how good is the gear?), if I think it should have been included in the vanilla game, and just how much the game in question matters to me.

That depends. I bought The Shivering Isles (never played it mind, don't really know why not) but does that count as DLC or an expansion pack?

I can only buy DLC if I can convince my parents, and if it has something I really want, like a few extra tracks or a couple new characters.

It's like tipping at a Restaurant - if a game is good, I give the developers some extra money. Plus it makes the game longer. It's win-win.
Perfect analogy. I couldn't have said it better.

I get DLCs that are big enough and reasonably priced.
$2.50 for The Secret Armory of General Knoxx was an AMAZING deal. That one DLC's story and characters, in my opinion, were far better than the original Borderlands' story and characters.
Shivering Isles for Oblivion was another great deal. Sheogorath is still one of my favorite characters.
On the other hand though, I'm probably never going to get the CoD DLC's. I'm not going to pay $15 for 5 new multiplayer levels. I'd rather just go to TF2, where I can get all 40 official maps free, and infinite community maps, also free.
