Edit: Okay, it's about games where you can choose. Still "yes". I do play both, whatever I feel like.

Nope never have.

Quite ironic considering that KotOR is one of my most loved games, yet I've probably missed quite a bit of content by only ever playing male.

In most fighting games, I play as the female characters, they're usually more creative than the males.

I made all of my money in Guild Wars by stripping with a female elementalist.....

My fortune: 13 Platinum. Not bad for a Level 12.

I normally start with a male character, but generally I'll have at least 1 female. Normally the first guy tends to be just a dumb brute, but then the second (Which is usually the female) is the refined character. I then tend to main the refined woman, unless big dumb brute is more effective.

I would hate to be the kind of person who has to play the gender that they are any time they play a game. I can't imagine how many fantastic games and content people have missed because they are so immature... "eww girls have cooties!". Grow up its a game... a story, its not you nor does it say anything about you. Except maybe that you're not mature enough to be able to follow a plot where a female is the main character.

Sorry I'm a little sick of threads like this, people need to grow up.

For some reason, I almost always make female characters (I'm male). I dunno why, it started years ago in Dungeon Siege and it's stayed like that pretty much the entire time. Except in MMORPGs; in Guild Wars, my main character is male (though there are a few females, IIRC - haven't played it in a while), and the same goes for EVE Online (although that makes no difference whatsoever).

Only once.

I started up fallout 3 as a guy and at the birthday party, I decided to take off all my clothes just for the hell of it. I then noticed that I had no shirt on. Hmmmmmmm......... DAM!!!!

I played as a girl in Street Fighter 4, Soul Calibur 2 and 4, Street Fighter 2 and in most Super Smash Bros. games.
I usually don't bother with RPGs and when I do play them I don't usually do much with character customization, if default is female I go for that, if default is male I go for that.

Well, it depends on what game it is. If it's an RPG then I have a healthy mix of both genders, just to see the separate choices and impacts on the story. Plus Mass Effect 2 didn't have a gay option, so it was either that or seduce fish-boy in my imagination.

Didn't this thread just get done?

Yes, I play girls more than 90% of the time. Why?
Why don't you?

And I've only ever completed either Mass Effect with a female Shepard, mostly because the voice acting is much better (Jennifer Hale ftw).
I preferred playing Mass Effect with a Female Shepard for exactly that reason. Although Mark Meers seems to be coming into his own for Mass Effect 2 some of the dialog options had me in stitches.

Personally I tend to play every game through once per gender and once per alignment so good guy bad guy and good girl bad girl. In MMOs I associate certain class types with certain genders for no good reason.

A nice practical upshot of a female MMO char is that strangers will tend to be much nicer to you right of the bat.

Sometimes when I'm bored. It doesn't really make a difference to me. We've all played Tomb Raider right?

I nearly always go a male character first, but if the option exists I'll often try a female character on my 2nd or 3rd playthrough.

Wierdly, I nearly always make my female characters mages (or the equivelant class).

Very rarely. My friend does almost exclusively. I don't get the appeal. But of couse I wouldn't NOT get a game because the protaginous was female

I do to keep me out of video games, I tend to slowly try to make me which doesn't work because the characters don't tend to do what I want them too.

And thier nicer to look at for the 20-30 hours your going to be playing it.

I more or less HAD to in Diablo II, and it was pretty cool. The assassin is particularly badass.
