I play as a female in fighting games and occasionally in games where there's a character select. Though for the most part I'm a guy.

I am male 97.4% of the time. I want to be female every once in a while. Don't judge me!!

I don't mind having female secondary characters at all but if the option exists to have a male lead character that's equal-to or better than the female one (for whatever purpose/story/stats/etc I want) then it's always, always male.

Past the 2nd generation of Pokemon games I'd always play as a girl, 'cos the guy looked too fruity. C'mon, only two people can pull off a beret: Samuel Jackson and M. Bison.

In games where you view the character from behind, female usually. If you're going to spend hours staring at an ass, do you really want it to be a dude's ass?

Mostly no. I normally do a playthrough as a female character to see what's new, but really I play as male character most of the time. I find it easier to identify with a male character and on a more basic level, I find guys are just more pleasing to look at.

Yeah I do sometimes because generally, an MMORPG's gameplay and storyline can be judged solely on it's cup size.

Yes, especially if it's 3rd person, I don't feel like staring at some dood while I play. Plus how many games have female heroes?

I like to play things that aren't me. Part of the challenge of roleplaying, for me, is the mindset. "Can I be this character? Can I act believably?" I'm a firm believer that I'm not the character, and therefore I shouldn't make the choices I would make.

For this reason I also like to play as pre-generated characters.

This mindset changes for games that are purely about your choices, like Fable or Fallout 3, where the character is what you make of them.

Whenever games let me make my own characters I usually play as the girl first run through just cause they look better than the guys

HA HA! bi curious.

[sub]I couldn't resist[/sub]

I often play as female character when I have the choice for a change of pace since so many games have a male protagonist.

I usually play through the game for the first time as a male character, then I play through again with a female character. I remember a LPer on youtube put it a good way:

"If I'm going to be staring at the same person for 30 hours, it might as well be someone I find attractive."

I play as a chick mostly. Since they're always in 3rd person I'm gonna be spending a lot of time looking at that ass so I want it to be a hot chick.
