It's something annoying that can't be avoided. I don't fear taxes either.

If I die now, I die now; I don't fear death for the most part (unless I'm to die by fire or drowning, then I fear death).

First of all, I don't think I'll die any time soon. Sure, it might happen, but worrying about death while still alive is a terrible way to waste your time.

Secondly, no. I do not fear death. That doesn't mean I welcome it either.
I've almost died once. I couldn't swim and fell into deep water. I nearly drowned.
There was a point where, all of a sudden, it felt as if time went slower. I stopped panicking and mentally accepted I was going to die.
I stopped struggling against the water and kept still. For a moment everything felt in place. No worries, no doubts. Everything was fine. I think the only thing I really put words to in my mind was "So, this is it then?" Death is natural.....

Then I got saved.
Being saved was quite painful, actually. I was coughing up water and had problems breathing. For a short moment I felt as if it would have been easier if I had died there, but I quickly cast that idea aside.

I'll never forget that moment and because of it I'm still grateful that I'm alive and well to this day.

To all those who say no...Bullshit.

You're telling me not knowing what lies beyond death doesn't scare you? Lack of knowledge leads to anxiety and fear, this is human nature.
Death and what happens afterwards are two different things.
I don't care what happens afterwards it's the waiting that annoys me.
Be careful your going to turn this into a religion thread.
I meant both. :/ Most people on the escapist are athiests by my count. The waiting...? For what?
I should have thought before I said anything. I meant not knowing when that I'll die annoys me. Sorry, I'll fix it now ( Why did I say waiting, I'll never know :/). Probably my beliefs make the idea of death not seem so bad I guess....
I see. No worries though, I write things like that because I have this problem of thinking that everyone will understand me then later find that it wasn't clear at all... Or because I'm forgetful with projecting my thoughts fully and correctly, Either work.

I am but mostly because I think that when we die that's fucking it. Just image not thinking, feeling or anything. I like thinking, oh ya and if you brain hurts from trying to imagine it I succeeded.
You didn't think or feel before you were born, either. Did that bother you?

I can honestly say I don't fear death. I can't wait to discover if my atheistic ways have damned me to an eternity in hell!

I fear things that won't end my life, but will stop me from enjoying it to the full.

Of course I do, all those people that said no are most likely lying. If you were told that you had a terminal illness and were going to die you wouldn't be scared? Don't give me that whole "We are all dying" stuff, I mean bed-stricken and having to really accept the fact you will die soon you would be able to shrug that off. Not until you are in the face of death should you or can you seriously think about it, or even begin to accept it.

I'm not afraid of death, no. I mean, I'd rather not die, and I'm going to do everything in my power to stay alive, but I'm not actually afraid of it.

Now spiders, I'm afraid of those.

'A man who does not fear death, does not have a life worth living'

I cant remember where the quote is from or even if it's accurate, but I like it. Way I see it though is, death just cuts short what you get to experience in life, so yes I do fear death. Death is also the only experience that absolutely everyone will have in common eventually

Yes I fear death and I hope I may be able to choose when to die, or if I want to die at all. Transhumanism ftw :)

Oddly enough, some people might not think exactly as you do. Perhaps calling their views bullshit is a tad-bit disrespectful.

I do not fear death; it is inevitable. I fear specific ways of dying.
That's how I'd put it. I'm scared of drowning, or sufficating. They are horrible ways to go.
I already figured im crazy but I'm curious about drowning :p

Death is whatever you think it is. I would imagine death to be the same as the one in the discworld series, he is awesome in that.
Oh please let it be so
