I agree that guys (me included) can be assholes. But it's not like this is a big secret or anything. You're basically bringing it on yourself if you make it apparent that you're a girl (ie naming yoursef xxShooterGallxx) and it's basically a trade off, you can be asked how big your tits are or called a fag.

I haven't really been able to play online for various reasons regarding internet availability so I haven't actually witnessed anything. But some of the stories I've heard on this thread makes me want to take the same action as you. It makes me want to find out where these bastards live, sneak into there house at night, and then forcibly castrate the lot of them. They don't deserve to be considered men after they've dirtied the word with their actions.
I recognize the irony of me being intolerant towards intolerant people but sometimes you have to fight fire with white hot plasma.
...or, as the Daleks say, "THIS IS NOT WAR. THIS IS PEST CONTROL."

I can imagine how annoying it'd be...I don't hear about many experiences like this, though I find them to not be surprising.

Worst one i've heard was a friend of mine in WoW was told that the only chance she had of getting into a high-end raiding guild was posting pics of herself topless.

Sorta like calling yourself "ASSBANDIT500" And getting upset that people call you gay?
Yea exactly

guys can be dicks but girls can be annoying sluts. its the sluts that make dicks think this is acceptable and vice versa. not all of either gender is that bad, though, I consider myself a guy and not a dick (at least not to girls)
I have to agree with you on this. I mean if you played xbox live uno you knew well enough to never turn on the camera function. All you would see is everyone naked or having sex on cam. Or private games Guys and Girls did to not play uno and play with "other things".
WAIT WHAT? I think I might missed something in UNO cause I played it for ages and never seen anything like this
It was like back when cameras just came out for uno. I think they took it away now because of that.

It hasn't quite happened to me yet but, I know a lot of girls who do get harassed. Of course it annoys us.

Yeah, it does annoy me when girls are nerdy to get attention. It should be because you have a passion for nerdy things and not because it's the popular thing to do. Obviously not all female nerds do it for the attention but there are the few that do. It's somewhat sad as well.

Some girls need there attention, they need it or they will explode. I've been kicked from a guild by a girl for being a girl. Because I was a treat to her attention. It sucks and annoys me as well... It's just a game but some of them take it personal.

Yeah, I agree that's pretty crap. There was once a 4chan picture a friend showed me. It was basically the different categories of gamers. Fanboys, know-it-alls, casual, etc. There was one called "girl gamer" and "gamer girl". The girl gamer said "Hey guys, I play games and I'm a GIIIIIRL" whereas the gamer girl said "Hey guys, what are you playing?". Meaning the girl gamer wanted attention for the fact that she plays games and has a vagina whereas the gamer girl just wanted to play games. I thought the picture was true and pretty funny. Unfortunately I couldn't find it again but you get my point.

I've never really had a problem with this. For one, I always play a female BE/NE on WoW and I've never once been solicited, though several of my male friends who play the same time get asked to cyber all the time...

There was that one time on L4D where I started talking and a random was like, "You're a girl?!?". That's literally the only time though.

The Xbox live community doesn't discriminate...its equally offensive to everyone.
What annoys me, however, is how unfunny and annoying the offenders can be sometimes. I mean if you're going to troll... at least be funny/creative about it.

I'm more annoyed with gamer gurls who try to flaunt the fact that they play games all the damn time. Or act stupidly or arrogantly and expect people to fawn over them and do stuff for them just because they're a girl. I had to play against a clan with a girl in it in a game of search and destroy in MW2, because my team had a bunch of stupid people she always talked trash between rounds and the guys always kissed up to her, and while I was on their team for a match they even gave her care packages. Pathetic.

The guys I find funny are the ones that would defend a girl because they secretly want to hit on them themselves...=P

Hmmm....nine pages? I wonder why that is...?

For as bad as 4chan can be, there are times, like this, where it actually spawns something great. Kinda like mining for gold in a septic tank. Sometimes, the most accurate things come from 4chan and not other sources.

Yes, what I like to call the "Polonius effect". Believe it or not, one of the more disregarded boards is capable of feats of great intellect and wit. They just don't happen, as often.

Hmm, I am, without a doubt, number 27.

Guys online can be a real pain, yes. Which is strange because you'd think they'd realize that the non-pricks of their gender were more successful with friendships online and attempt to emulate them. I've actually gotten e-mails, unprompted, from girls by just having a normal conversation with them on WoW.

Just to be safe, though, I assume everyone on WoW is male, despite their avatar.

Except for my friend, Melissa, who plays it.

Geeze. Hardly expected to run into a "to thine own self be true" reference here. Perhaps it's a corrollary to the thousand monkey hypothesis.
Me? Probably 23, though a tad more casual than most. Though I did my time on WoW. And yes, that's the assumption one should always make until they speak on vent. As for guys on the internet? Largely idiots whose severely stunted social growth has metastasized into full blown misogyny. Bunch of louts.
