Nah, my 'social networking site' is called the pub. Call me old fashioned, but if I want to catch up with my friends I like to sit down and have some face-to-face banter with them. In the words of Dave Gorman: "That's one of the many things you do with friends - meet them."

That having been said, of the other people in my office at the moment, Phil used to be on Facebook but got rid of his account a few years back and Jo is an absolute addict who is online every spare moment she gets.

I do, I signed up after being pushed into it, and now all it does is make me feel guilty every time I get a message, as it might be an invite, as some of my friends invite me to RL events thru facebook.

Then I log in, and find there's more people wanting to be my friend on facebook, I have about 200 unanswered messages to do with sheep and drinks and farms and the mafia, and I just feel like I'm being mean by not joining in, but it'd take me like a solid month to catch up, and I also just don't want my ex girlfriends, my family, my ex school friends, my current friends and my WOW guild mates all being linked together.

I just can't face the idea of my old sexual partners and my mother and 13 year old nieces and nephews sharing the same place. That's a Venn diagram where I want no part of either circle even being on the same piece of paper. Last thing I need is 'you've got a lot of girls on facebook, how come you're single?' from my mother, or 'who's that girl she looks fat have you done kissing with her and touched her boobies' from nephews and the like.

EDIT: Is it possible yet to completely delete a profile from Facebook? I heard you could leave, but your profile would still stay forever as they own you the moment you sign up. Personally I'd like to quit and just send everyone an email address to contact me.

I use it every day, but I only use it for two games, mostly. It's more a habit than any fun involved.

I do, but I barely use it.

I can't remember the last time I've gone on...

I do, and while I don't post anything on my own profile, I spam my friends with likes, comments, and links.

I do, and I use it pretty much hourly. It pays off having a small computer for a mobile phone, and a relaxed workplace.

I find it funny. The way you phrase it, its like you don't think people use facebook to arrange pub visits XD

Or in my case, gig and festival mentionings and asking if anyone wants to go. I've only got people I like on facebook, so it works out.

I get that most people will just use Facebook in a casual manner to arrange get-togethers, but (to use the example of co-worker and Facebook addict Jo as an example) some people use it as almost their sole form of social interaction. Jo will sit at her desk all day updating her profile and sending messsages to her friends, but then not meet up with them after she's finished work because as far as she's concerned she's already caught up with them. It's that particular mentality I can't get my head around.

I have one and would love to delete it, but it's become too "weird" and makes you come across as not "with it" or anti-social or whatever to not have one. Even my old boss (and pretty much everyone else in my life) gave me some crap because I wasn't active enough and never responded (or read) any of the comments on my wall (does facebook still have a wall?). My school was one of the first to get facebook and I used it then, solely to stalk girls. Now I'm married and don't need to look up stuff on random individuals. My profile gives my name and age, that's it.

Also, to the posters saying they are on it to post your "witty comments", you're one of the main reasons I never go to that sight (edit - site, really?). Guess what, most people aren't that witty, you included.

I have five friends, a wife, two parents, two brothers, a dog, and that's it. No need for a social networking site.

I do understand that extroverted people get a lot of enjoyment out of constant interaction. I got a laugh out the person that said they were on facebook because they couldn't be with their friends "all the time". Really? Am I the only one that sounds weird to?

I sure do, its where i keep all my faces. Its also how i keep in touch with all my travelling family and friends. Also my friends use it to organize social events, it is excellent for that.

For years i didnt want nor care about it, but one day i decided to try it, and ive never looked back. Everyday i have to check my posts, message friends, play games and just update people with a gist of what im doing (though not every thing and not every 5mins like some people)
