Poll: Do you judge people by their avatars?

EDIT: Im noticing a lot of people saying about people that have user picture avatars...So...What about me? (And dont say i love Cawfee. I hate the stuff, i was having a LONG day when that photo was taken)

It takes a while to get out of this. I instantly didn't like Pimpeteer2 because of his avatar, and instantly thought Souplex was fucking awesome. I try not to do this because both things are toxic to the environment here.
those two are both cool in my book.

I admit I have judged people on their avatar but more often than not I read the post before I judge. I mean I remember some of the "oldies" like John Galt who has simple and black and white pictures of classical looking people and for some reason I imagined him as a older wiser fellow.

OT: I wonder what people thing of me considering I do not post often.

Yes. It's sort of a first impression thing. I will form a further opinion based on the actual post but there are certainly some avatars that speak quite loudly on their own, whether or not that is the actual intention. An avatar based simply on the latest internet fad will definitely make me have a lesser opinion of the poster, as will an avatar that was obviously just selected from a prefab selection. It's not insurmountable but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't the case.

OT: I judge on the avatar when it actually gets my attention. But I do look at avatars, just not always judge the person.

I judge people by their avatars more in games than on forums. It's easier to judge people when they have an opinion stated straight out or something, but generally I just use it to recognize them.

Forums are usually more like a conversation, whereas when I 'm immersed in games, their avatar sort of becomes them in my mind, so it's harder to picture them as an actual person in front of a screen.

And it probably affects my view of you more than it does with others, since "The Road to El Dorado" continues to be one of my favorite movies.

So I guess sometimes it depends on the situation.

thanks, I think the only thing that tops road to el dorado in the cartoon department for me is secret of nimh but Im not sure if its got anything that would make as good an avatar as this does

not usualy but there is one guy who has an anti-obama one and I judge him to be a jerk by that, since its suprisingly wordy for an avatar. If youve seen it then you know it.

So "Doesn't Like Obama = Jerk"? I don't think you're really judging it for its "wordiness".

Sometimes, but only useually in the case if it's one of those generic ones that come with the site, i useually judge people based on how they post.
