I played it and to me it felt like Halo 2 with more types of equipment. It added so little that was different from Halo 2 that it felt like more of an exspansion then a whole new game. Sure there's a few new enemies and a few new guns but really it was just more of the same. The level where you drive a warthog while things are blowing up around you felt a lot like The Maw of Halo CE. The human aircraft you get to fly (the hornet I believe its called) feels like the banshee from both previous Halos. Sure it's more of the same and it was good but when I get a sequal I want more gameplay innovation. This is what seperates a game like Halo 3 from Gears of War 2. GoW 2 added a great deal of new content and though it was still crouch, blind fire, rinse, repeat it had so much more that it seldom felt old.
Overall if I had to rate it I'd give it a 7/10 on the grounds that sure it's aged well but since it doesn't really add much new I can't justify giving it a better score.
