I played it and to me it felt like Halo 2 with more types of equipment. It added so little that was different from Halo 2 that it felt like more of an exspansion then a whole new game. Sure there's a few new enemies and a few new guns but really it was just more of the same. The level where you drive a warthog while things are blowing up around you felt a lot like The Maw of Halo CE. The human aircraft you get to fly (the hornet I believe its called) feels like the banshee from both previous Halos. Sure it's more of the same and it was good but when I get a sequal I want more gameplay innovation. This is what seperates a game like Halo 3 from Gears of War 2. GoW 2 added a great deal of new content and though it was still crouch, blind fire, rinse, repeat it had so much more that it seldom felt old.

Overall if I had to rate it I'd give it a 7/10 on the grounds that sure it's aged well but since it doesn't really add much new I can't justify giving it a better score.

It's playable, and the online is fun in moderation, but it is very overrated and the community is filled with hate. Do I like it? Yes, but you need a "so and so" option.

Sometimes.

But the amount of lag on that game, legit or not, drives me to ragequit alot.
Lag? It's your internet dude. I've never had lag in Halo 3.

Yes, I like Halo 3. Too bad that there's the hatewagon against, like SSBB and Wii.
I guess you have not been in a game when the host was Japanese or Australian. (Ignore if your Japanese or Australian).

I used to think it was okay, but then I had to watch my brother play it every second of every day as I waited for him to come off so I could play something better.
I think that's a fairly valid reason for disliking it.

I personally like playing it for funsises. If I want to win, I will play CoD4. Lately, me and my friend have been spending the whole game on a mongoose, with me sticking and BRing people, its lots of fun. Thats why I enjoy Halo 3.

I love Halo 3, especially all the hilarious magic bullet flukes that you get like the warthog splattering a guy who jumped at the wrong time or the guy getting killed by a flying traffic cone.

The multiplayer is fun. The Mythic Map Pack is kinda pissing me off though.

I couldn't really tell you about the community because as soon as someone makes a sound they get muted.

Could the reason be just that Yatzee hated it on Zero Punctuation once, despite having no experience in Halo before?

How is it hatewagon if you give legitimate reasons as to why its not a big thing?
It's a hatewagon, because FEW people just give legitimate reasons, and the rest tag along because they can't play it. :)
Well that's true, but that happens with every game, some people just do it to be trolls, I mean, I liked halo 2's multiplayer, but when I played Halo 3, it just seems, like a DLC for Halo 2, it just feels like they are squeezing as much money as they can out of the franchise before they leave it dead in a shallow pond as soon as they come up with a halo guitar game or something.
Well, that's what EVERY good game dev does, unless it's really underrated and doesn't earn that much money.
Honestly, if you created a game that took years to make and it became a HUGE hit, would you create a sequel/prequel just to earn a bit more money?

ive played

it was easily the worst of the 3 games
bad levels (yes they were worse than the other 2's)
handgun was really weak (i adored that pistol in the old games)
very underwhelming

just not great

I like it. Can't stand the xbox livers on it though. The game isn't without its faults either. Most annoying is the spawning system which they seem to make worse every update.
Does anyone else find this? More and more people will spawn behind you, or you will spawn into gunfire/a group of enemies/ the path of a speeding ####ing warthog.

A lot of people hate it because it isn't Halo 1. Which is fair enough I guess, but not a legitimate reason to say its a bad game, simply why you don't like it (my vision of utopia is one where people understand this concept of not liking vs actually poor quality.)

I didn't like it because all the critics and all my friends told me it was the shit and I got it. The multiplayer was good but not the best and the singleplay was crap.

I actually just borrowed this from a friend a week ago and I wish I hadn't. The campaign wasn't fun in the slightest, online was barely entertaining, but playing with some friends in a pvt. match or just split screen with some friends was the only thing I really liked.

You did not search well!

Anyway, so i dont feel like an arse - I like the game and play it regularly, hell i basically bought a 360 to play it, but i still hate the bastard. Love and hate are way closer than their logical midpoint, weird huh?
