You know, someone asked me this at work the other day.

She was talking about taking dance lessons and shit, and was shocked when I said I absolutely hated dancing and generally have nothing to do with any form of dancing no matter what the social gathering.
When she said "but you're a metal fan- don't you even mosh?" she was genuinely surprised when I said that in my mind, moshing is still in the same place as what John Travolta does in Saturday Night Fever- it might be fun to watch other, more rhythmic people do, but I'd rather prop up the bar.

They seem too aggressive to me, and its not my type of music.

I'm into House/Trance and other kind of dancey music, and although those kind of events are equally crowded and wild, they're just less violent. I've never heard of anyone covered in blood after a rave. It's more about dancing until your numb, making out with random people, and lots of flashing lights and colours that give you mini-seizures.

Sometimes sure, when else can you get punches off at 300 pound meatheads without having to fight them?

Not really, but I do take the opportunity to dish out some pain whenever someone jumps into me.

Depends on the crowd. I've seen som epunk acts and the moshing crowd there really tends to go in for the kill. Where I come from anyway. With metal acts however, I usually find moshpits to be rather respectful. It's usually just shoulder tapping and body checking. Then again I usually just go to melodic metal bands and the crowd tends to be easy going.

Depends... If it's the 'I WANT TO HURT YOU' kicking and punching and spikes kind of pit, hell no.. If it's the friendly shoving, jumping, falling, picking up kind, hell yes :D

I've never been in a mosh pit because I've never been to a concert. I might feel a little uncomfortable being surrounded by over-enthusiastic people I don't know.

Yeah Moshing is awesome but it's like one of those things you wonder why you enjoy it so much.

My first mosh pit I didn't know what a wall of death was until it was WAY TOO LATE, I lost a shoe and got a split lip....yet kept going back for more......

Who knows...

Yea love a good mosh. Mainly prefer metal for moshing instead of the emo-/post-hard-core crowd because it's more respectful; lots of shoving and body checking, but you always pick people off the floor and no arm flailing. I'm a pretty big lad and in good shape so I don't really mind if it gets out of hand, but when people come in swinging and kicking it just pisses me off.
Wall of death at lostprophets gig (shinobe vs dragon ninja), before they started being played on the radio was probably one of the best music related moments of my life...

No. I'm the weird guy who doesn't look like he's enjoying himself.
I'm the same way, it gets so annoying when people keep asking if I'm alright or if I'm having a good time when I'm just trying to enjoy the show.
