Well, it's kinda hard not to, especially when your playing Fallout 3... >_>
"He's hackin' and smackin' and slashin', oh he's hackin', smackin', choppin' that meat!"

I recently found, entirely by accident, that Kind of Blue by Miles Davis goes oddly well with Resident Evil 5.

I don't really listen to music but i some times listen to calming
music when carving people up with a chainsaw in Gears of War.
Very relaxing you see.

I had the Power Rangers theme song playing while I was blasting raiders and radscorpions across the Wasteland in Fallout 3. Does that count?

I've had deliciously ironic song choices sometimes. For example, I was tearing shit up in Grand Theft Auto 4 with a 4-star wanted level when 'Don't Stop Me Now' by Queen came on.

Otherwise, since I mostly play shooters and games where people are getting maimed and killed, my music choices are relatively fitting. After all, my iTunes contains many days worth of metal countered by maybe two of acoustic stuff.

I would say "yes", but from my experience, the Dr. Mario theme is perfectly appropriate for anything / everything gaming related. As is the Tetris theme.

Nope, I try to immerse myself into the character i'm playing and therefore flow with the music that they give me.

Tomb Raider has been through some weird ones lately. Dragostea Din Tea was the most bizarre I think. Oh and Oblivion to The Cure, Vitas and The Offspring. Gotta love shuffle :p

I always have Re: Your Brains by Jonathan Coulton playing when I'm playing Left 4 Dead or Resident Evil 5. I also love to listen to ELO, Disturbed, Reel Big Fish, Weezer, The Offspring, and System of a Down when I'm playing other games like Call of Duty 4, Mass Effect, Gears of War 2.
Although, the weirdest song that played for me was Strong Bad's Techno music while I was playing Call of Duty 4 and everyone on my team started to reminisce about Strong Bad.

Most of my gaming is currently online FPSs wherein you would be badly handicapped by not having full attention on the ingame audio.

I used to grind Diablo II whilst listening to everything!
Diablo 2 + metal = SWEEET!!

While I am playing and mmo I have to listen to music, or else I get bored really really fast.

The Doom soundtrack goes with anything, although it obviously works best with over-the-top shooters like Timesplitters.

This reminds me of the time I was playing COD4 and suddenly heard some git had a rap CD playing in the background and the noise was carrying over his headset. I immediately muted the smegger: who plays music which can be heard by the headset?

Eminems "The Real Slim Shady" on a constant loop while playing Fallout 3 with the radio in the background (in the game).

Also there was the time I was playing engineer on tf2 while listening to Rage against the machine.

Nah, not usually. The only time I ever listen to something other than the game's soundtrack is if the soundtrack is irredeemably bad, or if it's a racing game, since I like listening to my own music with racers, since immersion's not really a problem in racers.
