My brother and I found over $80 once in the early 90's (inflation tracker says that's $130 now) in a used-goods store. We gave it to the management, then claimed it after the 30 day waiting period.

Pretty much, if it's bills I usually always try to find out who they belong to, but keep them if there's no authority.

I also go for nickels, but save all my pennies as well--seldom pick them up, though.

Then again, I have over $60 in cans saved in my back yard right now.

Interesting thing I've noticed. I was recently in Scotland, where they use the English Pound. Weird thing is, even though one pound is about 2 dollars, the English have coins that go all the way up to 2 pounds; one coin with the purchasing power of four dollars. Yeah, you don't see much loose change floating around the streets of Scotland.

Ha, I wouldn't pick up anything lower than a 50p, unless I was having a really good day, then 20p and 10p would be picked up.

When I was a kid, my siblings (2) practiced playing music in some orchestra or something, but it was held in a school or something. My dad and me would get their early and walk around finding vast ammounts of money, £10 (under mostly, around £5) was probably the most we got, I wouldn't be able to remember. But I think my dad would either split it half way, or let me buy stuff, like lego, bionicle or digi/poke-mon toys.

Pity lego is so expensive now, otherwise I'd go out tomorrow and buy some for nostalgia-ing.

Yeah if its 50p + it gets picked up and fins the nearest charity box, that way its being put to good use and I don't feel I'm stealing.

Only if its paper, being Canadian that's slightly more strict than Americans.

I once found a $100 bill. 'Twas a good day.

I'd pick up notes obviously - coins are doubtful.

Like someone else said though, if its in a wallet/purse, I'll try and return everything to the person.

*ahem* Would that be the British pound (or pound sterling)?

yeah, as long as they arent pennies. pennies are so near worthless they arent worth it. the largest amount i have found is a $20 at my school. i kept it. if i see someone drop money i give it back to them, but if there is no one around i will grab it.

If it's paper money I pick it up. The lowest euro bill is 5, which is about 7 US dollars. I don't bother with coins though. Makes me look like a hobo.

I picked up a penny yesterday. I always pick money off the ground. My dad and I were once walking to a Circle K when we found a twenty on the ground. Epic stuff.

Just the other morning I found £20 lying on the ground outside my front door. I was pleasantly surprised by that. I think it was mine, because someone had given me some money earlier, which I'd put in my pocket and then later had been unable to find, but still, I'm amazed it hadn't blown away during the night.

And, as the saying goes: "Find a penny, pick it up and all day long you'll have a penny".

Nothing less then a loonie ($1)

I once chased a $50 bill that was flying through the air. I took me two min. to catch it but it was worth it.

It's got to be 10ct coins at least, so no coppers.

Most I ever found...1?. I am not a lucky person.

It's nothing to do with pride I just think of it as stealing (like the authorities do) and I would feel really guilty about it afterwards.
