HELLOOOOOOOO!!!! my mum usualy records a lot of things and we have a lot of tapes...some other OLD things we have is like the 6th toy from the old toy quiz, a super nintendo,(it works!) and laser disk player!
Finally, someone else who not only knows
what a laser disc player is, but has one too! I have two, but still, progress! Other people who know what I'm talking about when I say things!
That said, why yes, I do still have VCRs. Yes, plural, both working, both seeing regular use. The laser disc player, not so much, but it comes in handy if I ever want to see "Star Wars" the way it's
meant to be seen.[footnote]I.E. Darth Vader is dark aquamarine, land speeders float along on bright orange Cheeto smears, Mos Eisley is basically unpopulated, Jabba never leaves his palace-thing, and, because the internet demands it, Han shot first.
The above might be wrong, but I'm going from memory, all right?[/footnote] It's also nice if your Star Trek or James Bond marathon[footnote]Why yes, I
do have the original series, the Next Generation, two or three seasons of DS9, and all Bonds through Goldeneye on laser disc. That and more, thank you for asking.[/footnote] needs to be interrupted every forty minutes so you can get up, stretch, or refill the popcorn bowl[footnote]Fuck pausing. That's cheating.[/footnote]. Oh, DVD and Blu-ray, you make it almost too easy to veg out.
The irony of it all is all this obsolete equipment is hooked to a 65" widescreen with more HDMI connectors than I know what to do with.
Now ask me about the phone that's attached to the wall, doesn't tell you who's calling, never needs charging yet still has a cord. We got a bunch of those too.
