Does running in killing anything with a soul (and some without) with the minimal amount of bullets count?

Not in a game like L4D, but in other games i'd either pick defensive points on defense or flank them on offence

I consider Blitz to be a perfectly legitimate tactic. I can usually be on the other side of a map with half the enemy players dead before they even encounter another member. The element of surprise can work wonders, especially if they expect a game to unfold at all the usual choke points.

Of course, if I loose the initiative, then I start again, slow and methodical, crawling up the usually unused venues, In a much more defensive state of mind.

I try to get a battle plan up when I play Halo 3, for example a friend of mine takes a Warthog and distracts them while me and another guy steal the enemy flag.

Tactics as in having the entire team stand still at every corner untill somebody yells "clear", no.
Tactics as in staying together and ignoring the idiot who decides he's too good for the game and runs off to get himself killed, yes.

it would be great to have tactics, like having 2 people covering flanks and someone covering your behind, but everyone wants action straight away

you watn tactics?
fire emblem or endwar
not FPSs, but still pretty cool games
on endwar, watching your troops run down a street and take cover behind sandbags feels way cool

Reeper, if you just want to run and gun L4D is not for you. The game is built on tactics and teamwork. If you don't want to be part of a cohesive group then get a single player zombie game.

As for me I always try to have some tactics in most every game I play. It comes in real handy playing fighters and FPSs. Not much of a fan of RTSs though...

In games like BF2142 I weave long and complicated plans, letting the enemy split their forces, take bases in argo and leave their own to be captured. Airstrike the stragglers, snipe the survivors.

Pros
- Good commander/Sniper points

Cons
- usually fails because of the lack of squadplay from others.
- underexperienced squads.
- lone wolves. (Results in teamkill_

If you call dodging enemy attacks and waiting for right moment to counter in fighting games a tactic, then yes.

This is like the Leeroy (Leroy?) Jenkins syndrome.
You do know that Leroy Jenkins became famous for carefully listening to the team plan, then swiftly ignoring it, charging at enemies like a twat completely disregarding his team and consequently getting them all killed...right?

I mean planned out tactics where some people will get into a little group and do what they do only to curse at someone who messes up.

This may not have happened to you exactly, but these people just get on my nerves when I play L4D. Run-n-gun always works for me, sitting in one spot always made it less fun. But when I ignore their "plan" and am attacked by a special zombie, these guys would refuse to help me, and if I was wounded on the ground, they wouldn't help me up and would continue with their mission. This is like the Leeroy (Leroy?) Jenkins syndrome. Damn, it is annoying when you have military-wannabes playing for "skill" and not for fun.
Sounds like you're not a team player. But if you're not, why are you playing a CO-OP game? Let me tell you, mindlessly running at the enemy is NOT fun for everyone, some enjoy teamwork a lot more. And since you don't help them, why would they help you? I think you should be playing with AI, that would suit you more.

In other words:

While playing 5 versus 5 Instagib (you know, 1 shot 1 kill) Capture the Flag in Unreal Tournament 2004 with my clan, we always have a game plan, and backup strategy in mind. It doesn't always work of course, but it is essential while playing in tournaments and the like for a shiny digital cup. Without it, even a team of very skilled individuals can get ploughed over by an organised yet individually lesser skilled team.

In some strategy or rpg single player games I work with strategies too if the going gets tough, if you don't plan, you'll hang.

He was not listening to the plan, he was getting chicken. :D

I love that video, and that makes me feel so sad.
