Poll: Does sex actually sell in video games?

No... whenever i'm playing online and pop-ups for pay-porn sites come up i just close them.

Thogh i did hear that some chick sold herself for an epic flying mount in WoW (she got the gold for the mount, some guy got to mount her IRL)

I guess I just like to think that most gamers have a level of intelligence that places them above this sort of thing. I suppose I don't have a good grasp of the general gaming audience.

It's gotta have some sort of positive effect on sales, otherwise Dead or Alive wouldn't sell nearly as well as it does. Do I think it's the most important thing? No. Does it give a game a nudge in terms of sales? Definitely.

Most people will say that Tomb Raider only sold because of the gigantic titties on the covers. But, that's ignoring that the earlier games in the TR franchise were actually just really, really fun.
Of course, sex doesn't hurt sales, either.

I think it can help games if it's blended into the story correctly. It makes more sense to have an orgy scene in God of War than, say, Call of Duty. I think if they tried integrating sex into games like that there would be a lot of people saying WTF and we'd see noticeably less sales.

Yes, where have you been? Its one of the greatest faults of the video game industry because that this face gets the most attention, atleast more is expected of the movie indutry. Thing is, if a movie has too much sexual content its called porn and shoved into the separate category of porn. If a video game has too much "content" its still a video game and adds to the bad face the industry gets.

It doesn't hurt. Remember, according to the guys making the new Ninja Gaiden game, "all men like tits." (Even gay men, apparently. Who knew...) Personally, I have a lot of trouble playing games one-handed, but to each his own.

That way you don't get tempted to buy crappy games that's main selling point is sex.
not saying all games are crap if they have sex in it. Mass Effect was a good game.

And look at the negative way it was treated when people found that out, despite the fact it wasn't gratuitous and probably disappointed everyone who had bought the game only because of it.

Not really, of all the products in the world video games have a lower "sex selling point"
simply because a true gamer isnt going to buy a game just cause its got sum "hawt pr0n" on teh front. i mean having a sexy chick [or guy, for all you girlies out there ] helps
