I'll be getting it for the very same reason you'll probably like it less.

It looks much more streamlined, accessible and stuff.
I'm gonna like it MORE because of it. Streamlining alone isn't bad...Would anyone here really say that Oblivion should have kept the invisible dice rolls from Morrowind, instead of proper hit detection? No, the complaints are generally on other aspects of Oblivion's combat. It was the gross over-simplification and removal of many aspects that many, me included, found so annoying in Mass Effect 2.

Trim the fat, Bioware. Don't just leave us with the bones.
I'd argue that what they trimmed in ME2 didn't just leave it barebones.

But I did that already.

So, yeah, cool then. I don't really care for any aspects of BioWare games other than the dialogue.
You gonna be a rogue? With the crazy backflips and shit?
Either that or Warrior.

I'm boring like that.

Actually, i think i would rather have invisible dice rolls than the horrible button mashing combat of Oblivion. If they had the melee combat of a Demons Souls, say, now we'd be talking.
You know what I meant, though. It's better to have hit detection.

I never really minded the simple melee in Oblivion, as I always played a character with some form of magic, so it kept things dynamic. Not always Battlemages, more like supplementary. Custom Spells enthralled me for hours...

But when running decreases fatigue, which then affects my hit rate...getting ambushed by a cliff racer and being unable to hit it for a few seconds while fatigue regenerates sucks.

Well, yeah, I guess I'm going to chose that.

I already have a Soldier character in Mass Effect, would rather not go for another obvious choice.
Besides, if it's anything like DA1, half of your recruit able team will be warriors.

I really, really liked Dragon Age: Origins. But I like the idea of most of the new things they're adding in to the second one. I'd much rather have the dialogue wheel and actually have my character speak, but I'm not so sure about all this new combat stuff. If combat's more responsive and fun to play/watch, I'll be happy. But I don't want it all "dumbed down."
It's finally good to see someone support the choice to bring in the dialogue wheel. Comparing what I have experience with Mass Effect. The wheel helps keep immersion into the story. The player can pay attention more to the story coming from the speaking people, rather than having to focus on what choices in the dialogue coming from this talking will be good or bad choices.

Example: With Dragon Age. The person I talk to speaks. I get a list of 5 choices, I wade through them in my mind for 3 to 5 minutes and then decide which is the good choice(since I usually play a good character on my first play through on games like these).

Then with the dialogue wheel in Mass Effect: I hear the person speak, I look at most 10 to 15 seconds at the dialog wheel and choose the top choice of course to get the good response.

It saves an insane amount of time.

On buying the game I will wait and see if they fixed any of the major class balance issues that were in origions. Though since its bioware its a safe bet that they did fuck all to fix that.

I really didn't get that feeling when I clicked on an enemy and my character proceeded to stab him without any input from me after that, except for occasionally pressing a special move button. I prefer winning at least partly because I know how to play, not dying with the game essentially stating, "it appears your stats weren't high enough. perhaps you should go back and grind."
Its not because your stats wernt high enough. Its because you didnt use the right skills, or use a heal at the proper time or wernt doing something right. Especially considering that enemies kind of leveled with you as well so grinding wouldnt do all that much.
Who said I was having a hard time, I was just bored.

Yea, so what does me suppossedly being bad at it have anything to do with it? I suppose you never once were killed in it? I just went back to an area with unfinished quests or wolves or whatever that needed killing, came back and won.

I think locking the race to human is a drawback, but I don't care since they did it because it is specific story about a human.

I don't understand the hate I see for the dialogue wheel. I jumped for joy when they said they would be imputing the Mass Effect dialogue wheel.

The wheel keeps the game flowing regularly.

With the wheel in Mass Effect, I was able to go through 30 hours(about a third of the game) in a week and really get into and like the story.

With Dragon Age, in month I only have about 15 hours clocked in and I only just got done with Lothering and done a few small quests in Denerim. I just can't get into it very well, because having to stop for five minutes to decide whether an answer to a conversation is good or bad is immersion breaking. If the game had the Mass Effect dialog wheel, I would probably have 10 times or more things completed in the game.

Long live the dialog wheel!!
So you want your games to go faster ? I prefer mine to last longer actually.
I like long games as much as the next guy, but I don't like length just for the sake of length. I'll reiterate what I have been saying. I like the story of Dragon Age; I like playing Dragon Age. The problem is that the dialog makes it a chore. I don't like 3 to 5 minutes dead air deciding times.

The problem is that the dialog is in a list like Kotor, but it isn't set up properly like Kotor where good choices are at the top, neutral in the middle, and bad at the bottom.

Dragon Age isn't like that.

Many times I found that I had chosen the thing that gets the reaction I didn't want because the top choice sounds like an obvious good choice, but it turns out what I wanted was in the middle. And other times, it looks like all the choices are neutral, but it turns out that there is still a good and bad choice in it.

I don't see how freeing up that dead air and confusion would make the game worse for me, when it allows me to pay attention to the story that is coming from the people talking, rather than the dialog choices.

For me, because of the dialog wheel, Mass Effect is going to be at least a 90 hour game. And that is beyond a good time for a game. Then you also have to throw in another 90 hours for doing a renegade play through. That is awesome because if I have good back to back game playing months(where I have ample time to play), that makes the game last at least 2 months. By that time I will have the money to buy a new game. Even so I still have a back log of games I have to finish. Mass Effect 2 for one.

The dialog wheel just makes way more sense.

This sounds like more of a personal issue, than one with the game. And I reload for every conversation, seeing how it could turn out.

You're just over-thinking things.

And I got 100% completion on Mass Effect 1 in 35 hours, so 90 hours is really fucking slow.

I even covered all of the ground on every single planet, and played on Hard.

It's all done, for better or for worse.

I'll be getting it, as it looks more streamlined, but not remotely to such a degree as Mass Effect 2. And the Rogue looks to actually play like a Rogue. With nimble movements and all. Unlike most Rogues, which are usually just stealth characters in most games. I am very mad about being forced to play as a human with the dialogue wheel, though.

But it still has stats like Strength and Dexterity. And skill trees. And all that good shit. Me likey that stuff. Me likey that stuff with respec of some sort more...but me still likey.
You need to add a "already got it" option to the poll.

I am taking a sick day on March 8th to play my, long-in-advance preordered copy of Dragon Age 2. I am wildly excited.

I'll definately get it. I liked Origins but this seems to have much more fun and action filled fights, which I like a lot. I still have qualms about changing characters in a fight though. What's the point of choosing a class when you have to find out everything about the other classes anyway? It made Origins lose a lot of replayability.

I won't get it on day one though, that's for sure. I'll wait a year or something 'til they release a collectors edition with all the dlc.
