This makes as much sense as banning female lawyers between the ages of 25-36 and three months from eating french fries between 2-6-PM on a Wednesday if they're wearing the color blue and have a white handbag with them.

None.

The stereotype that young men are worse drivers is based a little in fact, given that statistically we have more crashes.

Then again, when you turn 25 you do not magically gain the ability to drive after 10pm. It would be like saying that you're not allowed to go on roundabouts until you've driven for a certain amount of time. The only thing that would happen woud be that the accident rate would shift from being highest in under 25s who have no experience at driving past 10 to being highest in over 25s who have had no experience at driving after 10.

The only way for people to have less accidents is ether blind good luck or learning by experience. I learned to always check for cyclists because I nearly hit one. I learned to pay more attention at night when I nearly got hit by a tractor on a country lane at 12:40 am. I'm 19, but that makes no difference as to what I learn after these experiences.

My only questions are; A) Which Idiot came up with that idea?
and, B) Which idiot backed that stupid idea?

Remember kids, sexism is A-OK if it's against men!

Seriously though, this is a stupid idea, and I hope that England doesn't take any note of it.

Yay for stereotyping and sexism.

I guess it's just the fact that it's against guys. I mean, women speed and crash and drink drive as well, so why isn't it a law for both sexes? Also, I think the age is a little high. 20, 21 maybe, but 25 seems a little too high.

All I can say is - Boy racers. That'll be why prolly.

Yay for being a girl... :D Cheap insurance and can stay out as late as I want driving, if I ever go to Ireland.

No, that's completely idiotic. Don't punish everyone just because some people are absolute tossers. I've already got to worry about how the fuck I'm going to pay for car insurance when it's going to cost multiple times more than my car will cost me because of those idiots. Punish them not me.

Don't know exactly who, but it was devised by the Road Safety Authority, who were also responsible for getting penalty points introduced in the country.

So much for equal rights of men and women everywhere, eh? what, are they going to go after the black people in Ireland too? or is it already too late.

Aha! I finally found an online newspaper link, with an interview with RSA frontman Gay Byrne:
"The most dangerous day for a young driver is the day after he passes the test. It happens to be a young male problem and not a young female problem, although the young females are beginning to drive in a more aggressive manner.
"It is mainly those aged between 17 and 24/25 and it is extremely hard to get through to them."

This is the equivalent of saying "Statistically, black people commit more crime than white people, so black people aren't allowed out after 10:00 pm."

No. You cannot do that.
The rest of this thread needs to be this post, repeated again and again.
It is discrimination, as simple as that.

It's a conspiracey...

Lmao seriously though, thats just pathetic. I gaurantee a women thought of that to, pff if it weren't for rights movements that ...lady (urge to cuss rising) wouldnt even be allowed in polotics, so she got her rights, and now she wants to take others away for gender, cause thats just fine and dandy right.

Honestly though female rights are bomb and all, but they got more rights than men through societies ethical barriers as well. It annoys me sometimes xD

If anything you're going to be a better driver when you're 25 over many people 40+ say when a lot of people's senses probably begin to decline slightly.

And it's an illusion that younger people cause more accidents; they get caught in more accidents that pensioner's cause but somehow escape :p

This proposal is total fail. Not only is it sexist and ageist against Males matching those ages, but there is no evidence to support it would even save lives.

Imagine you work at a bar, and your shift doesn't end until 1am, how are you going to get home? You can't drive, so you'll have to walk or hope buses are still runing. As mentioned you work in a bar, you could step outside walk a few hundred meters and be mugged or knifed on your way home by some drunk.

My example is total guesswork, I have no way of knowing this to be true, just like the governing board proposing this has NO idea stopping Males aged between 17-24 will save lives.
It really is complete stupidity. On top of that, how would they put this law in effect? By having Policemen/women stop all people that look under the age of 25? Or is there some other means of enforcing the legislation.

I'm all for saving lives, but this just seems the most oppressive and outright stupid way of doing it. If a Male matching the age range mentioned drives after 10pm crashes and dies, then unfortunately it's either an accident or purely bad driving, either way to tar all Males aged between 17-24 with the same brush is incredibly unjust. People know the risks of driving when they step in a car, I myself lost a friend recently from a car crash, but that's life. It happens. In my eyes there is just as much chance a woman crashing after 10pm than a man, and as far as I understand in this proposal women are exempt from this? That's 100% bullshit.

Act theres not alot of black/white racism here. we get alot of catholic/prodestant near the borders. and a fair share of Polish/lituainian/latvian etc (damn them coming over here and working twice as hard for half the wage kinda thing) and of course "members of the travelling community" but yeah being black wont generate as much racism here as it would in say teh states. This sexist ageist law will never pass and even if it did not a soul would obey it. im male and i turn 21 fairly soon and i know how to behave on teh road not like some tools. But if the try and ban me ill be forced to break the law anyway so hell if they gonna catch me. Besides i cant think of a more dangourous demographic to try and pick on, would hate to be the female officer who has to tell a car load of 22 year olds they should be in bed by now..... (btw shes female in teh eg because presuambly the male officer was at home tucked in by 9:59pm.)

I'm not casper, set it at midnight. If it was set that late, I don't think I would care. I'd only be driving after that hour for emergencies anyway.
