Of course I'll buy it! It's a 15 year old joke that finally gets a punch line!

Yeah, that and I'm so unbelievably tired of green/brown games that build themselves on realism. It's been done, got boring at one point and now I'm really looking forward to mindless, uncomplicated action.

Because Duke can. Honestly why do you care? I'm going to enjoy it because its a throwback to some of the best games in the 90s. You are not because you are too high class apparently, but thats fine.

It's looking likely. It looks fun. At the end of the day that's what it comes down to. You can analyze things to hell and back but all you really need to ask is.
Is it fun?

I'm gonna buy Duke Nukem not because I'm a fan of the franchise, hell I haven't even played the previous games. I'm gonna buy it because it looks damn fun and because it has something most other shooters don't seem to have, a sense of humor and a funny one at that. All you guys out there can complain about why Duke is coming out now, 12 years after it was originally announced, but to you all i have to say s just don't buy it. This is like a straight person saying they don't like gay marriage, if you don't like it don't do it and that's that.

yes congratulations you have more time to spend on games than some people. The majority are only gonna buy a couple a month, id rather they buy the good game for the genre rather than the bad, then the money they didnt wasted can go to a new experimental title (magicka for example) :D
Well I mean, there's always the other side of the argument that if they're only buying one game a month it might as well be a big mainstream game that they know is good rather than spending money on a game they don't know too much about.

Honestly, if I was only going to get one I would rather get Duke Nukem than Serious Sam... but that's just me.

My pre-order is already paid off. So I think my vote would be in the 'yes' catagory?

Put bluntly, not only is there room, but there is a need, for this kind of offensive, silly, over the top game. This type of misogamy is an escape, and a welcome releif in the wake of first person shooters that, honestly, have been taking themselves waaay too seriously, or have been relying on multiplayer to spread the humor.

Duke Nukem was the first, and stands in this gamer's memory as the best satirical hero in the FPS genre. I pass games like Modern Warfare and Call of Duty up entirely, but I JUMP on a title like this, because when I play a game, especially a first person shooter. I, above all else, want to have FUN. And sometimes, being unrealistically immature, crude, and brash in the context of the actual game itself is JUST what the doctor ordered. I'd rather that, than hear the twelve year olds in Halo Reach or Metal of Honor.

If this is a game that gets kept away from the kiddies than so much the better for me.

IMO, this is the game for the big kids to cut loose and have some non-serious fun. Honestly, that's exactly what I intend on doing with this game.

Duke Nukem is a weird subject for me. I like crudness, violance, and sexuality in my games from time to time but Nukem has never appealed to me. I bought Duke Nukem 3-D on for xbox arcade and i hated it. I played it to the end just to feal like i'd gotten my moneys worth but i didn't enjoy it. It wasn't just that the game its self wasn't good. But i found my self hating Nukem more and more as a character. He just seemed like a dick to me, and not the funny kind.

I may play this new one if i hear its the shit but right now i have no plans on buying it.

Don't buy it, don't play it, don't talk about it. Problem solved. I see where you're going with your post but plenty of us (including myself) are very interested in it. The masculine misogynistic Duke with all the crude humor holds a special place for me. I played Duke 3D on PS1 as a kid and there's some funny stuff in it even today. Some of the previews for the new game have a lot of appeal as is (i.e. the Ego Meter as a health bar. I think that's awesomely clever).

So no...it isn't just for immature children. If it bothers you, don't play it. End of story.

I'm going to buy it. I've been waiting a long time for it.

I bout star craft 2 and waited forever for it and it was an agonizing let down in terms of graphics and the single player campaign. Why wouldn't I buy something that I've been waiting for just as long and that is clearly improved in at least one of those areas?

its the duke and to me its a historic game. i love serious games and i like how they try portraying to the public that they should be taken seriously but i still like to have fun. the main reason to game is to have fun.

Why do I wake up when I feel like it on monday?

Why do I think other people are silly?

Why am I typing in this post?

Because I can.

Why is Duke Nukem coming out?

Because the people want it so.

Am I going to buy the game?

yes.

Why buy it?

Because I can, and its a game that has been through such a roller coaster of a life Id love to see whats become of it through my own eyes, not some fake ass review or someone with anger management issues or some bull one sided news print.

Am I going to continue being annoying?

probably, but not in this forum.

Ick. I can't stand it, now that the novelty of "OMG IT'S BEING RELEASED!" has worn off. I'll pass with extreme prejudice.

You lost me when you said Mass Effect and Heavy Rain were amazing. Mass Effect makes video games look more like toys than Duke Nukem. At least the latter will have some deep mechanics for it's genre.
You seem pretty assured of that for not playing the game.

Also, I think you misunderstand what toys are: Pieces of amusement for no other reason than amusement. You know, EXACTLY WHAT DNF CLAIMS TO BE. At least Mass Effect had dreams of being a complex drama (and mostly succeeded).
