Headphones.

Earbuds are horribly uncomfortable and have no bass (unless you buy the really expensive ones). PortaPros are pretty good for working out too.

Headphones when I'm on the computer

Earbuds when I'm walking around with my phone playing MP3s.

I use what you call earbuds... except I just call them earphones because "earbud" specifically seems to translate to "the shitty white things that come with an iPod or iPhone and let everyone around you hear more of your music than you can".

I use a particular brand (Sony, can't remember what model) 'cos they're the only ones that fit and stay in my ears properly. Seriously though, the first thing I did when I got my iPod (and the one before this) was throw those bloody useless earbuds out.

Having said that: I've recently considered getting a pair of noise-cancelling headphones 'cos nearly all of my music listening these days is done while travelling by bus or train. They're a bit expensive though.

Earphones.. I've never seen the appeal of wearing headphones, they get in the way imo.

also aren't earbuds the things for cleaning your ears (Q tips in America I'm led to believe)

$7.50 Koss PortaPros
$200 (6 years ago) Sennheiser HD595 - good clarity but crap bass (yes they are amped) and have recently fallen apart.
$300 Ultrasonn Pro750, great sound in a full size for that kinda of money, this also takes into account the beating they have taken and still look new. (they also do play down to 20hz - starts rolloff around 50-60)
$1099 My pride and joy - JH Audio 13 Pro's. You will not get this kind of bass anywhere else, it is fast and tight and full, perfect, so is the mid range, so is the treble. The ONLY downside is the soundstage isn't that wide since they are IEM, but since they block out so much noise you can lower the volume signifigantly. MOst current studies also agree that sealed iem are better for your ears for this reason.

If I had the money then I'd use only headphones, as it is, earphones are cheap and I can get them by the truckload.
Same, also I havent found any headphones that also have little Iphone style microphones in them.

We use HD 650's in Music Technology and I agree they are unbelievably amazing. But because they're open a lot of people hear your music, which can annoy some people.
What are you talking about, that's the best part! "YOU will listen to my Slayer album, AND LIKE IT!

Headphones. It's absolutely impossible to lose track og a giant pair of earmuffs with a wire coming out the left phone. Plus, earbuds are made too big for my ears,so headphones were my only (comfortable) option.

I thought the same thing, but I didn't think hardly anyone else called them that.
What else do you call them?
Phones, the blacks- it's what I call my headphones when I'm at work, and the damn thing if I'm having a bad day.

I love my iFrogz earbuds, they cancel out noise and are comfortable as hell.

That being said, on the computer I use headphones.

Sony MDR-XD100, they are the comfiest things I've every put over my ears. I love how they leave a little space so my ears aren't flat when I take them off I use them at all times when not using them I'll just hang them around my neck.
