Headset for PC, earbuds for MP3 players, I perfer my stuff to be subtle when I'm walking around, those verbose headsets people wear out and about are just way over the top, plus with earbuds I can take one out and speak to people, and I have a good pair of earbuds that have great sound, so I get a good use out of them, they never fall out and are really comfortable, at least I find.

Headphones, they might look impractical when you take them out in public, but they sound better on my iPod and don't constantly fall out of my ears.

I really want to get some headphones, mostly for the style it has and because I think my hearing may of been damaged by earbuds... >_>

Why settle? Get good-quality headphones that are durable and very portable:

Audio-Technica ATH-EM7
They're pretty nice. My only complaint is that they leak sound more than I'm usually comfortable with.

Recently through a mistake I got two pairs of the same earbuds, so I've been using earbuds both at my computer in my dorm and for my iPod everywhere else. I used to prefer headphones, but I've found that only the large and expensive ones can both give me the sound blockage I want AND stand up to the wear and tear I put them through. That is a problem because I don't exactly have a few hundred dollars to bust on a pair of headphones and I don't want a separate carrying case just for my headphones.

The earbuds act like ear plugs and can bring the loudest of background noise to a tolerable level. The type I get are the ones that run around $20 at WalMart and come in every color of the rainbow. They last me close to a year too, which is very impressive since most others usually only last three or six months.

Also, I'm a stickler for quality, and those earbuds give me excellent quality. I feel like I can also hear more nuances in the music with them, since they block out so much sound and deliver the sound so precisely to my ear. And they leak next to no sound. Regular headphones now make the sound feel more far away to me.

And lastly, for the record, I can't stand the type of ear buds that iPods come with. The ones I'm talking about are the ones that actually go into your ear, and are shaped like ear plugs. The iPod headphones are uncomfortable, never stay in my ears, and let in a lot of noise.

I use headphones in the house, earphones outside.

I strongly prefer a good set of headphones, but I have to consider my fellow man also. A headphone at a decent volume is almost always going to leak sound, while decent in-earphones stay quiet. Plus, you can't really use headphones when working out.

Headphones. The problem is that I only had one pair and they just stopped working, and I haven't had a chance to get new ones yet/

I mostly listen to my ipod while walking or in public so earbuds are the way to go. My Bose buds make me so happy.

I'm going to use this thread as help for my own personal gain. I'm looking for some good headphones, maybe Skull Candy which some people tell me are really good, but anyone with knowledge of these things could they recommend another good brand, just looking for people's personal experiences with different headphones.

Headphones. My ear canals are a little weird... I've never tried an earbud that didn't grind painfully. Takes about 5 minutes for 'em to rub enough to start some bleeding.

Headphones all the way.
My ears would hurt after a while of using any earbud, and in-ears don't fit in my ear (no idea why, I've tried every size of plastic spacer thingy that comes with it).
Besides that, headphones are just so much more comfortable, offer a much more wholesome sound (unless you get super expensive in-ears), and are usually cheaper.

I just don't like headphones that don't have very good noise cancellation; for me or for others.
I like being able to listen to my music loud enough to drown out the world around me, but my current awesome $20 pair doesn't do that at all.
The sound quality is great, they are super comfy, and the cable is 3m long, but I feel like a dick listening to my iPod at even 40% on the bus =/
Unless fucking high school kids get on. Then I crank Amon Amarth to 80% and glare at em all.

I really want to buy a pair of Bose headphones one of these days. Noise cancellation heaven <3

Oh, my Turtle Beaches are also headphones, and they are godly <3

headphones LOOK awesome and are more powerful. but they look more awesome and are more powerful. people will steel them from you.

earphones are nice and discreet, cutesy, cheapy little things for when you cant bear to be separated from your music

Earbuds are dangerous. Literally. I read somewhere or another that 1/3 the sub 30 population had some hearing loss, primarily caused by earbuds.

MY Sennheiser cans beg to differ with your differing!

No ears getting hot, no listening fatigue(if you ears get tired you are listening to your music WAY too loud), some of the best sound money can buy, and almost perfect reproduction of sound with minimal bias, and one of the best sound stages on the face of the planet! And, they get you a TON of attention when you walk out the door wearing them. XD

I didn't vote because my choice isn't there.

I use earbuds for pleasure and while walking all over the place. I use headphones while exercising since they don't get the sweat into my ears.
