Ha, they are so backwards over there. Drive on the left side of the road, call soccer football, and have their toilets flush in the opposite direction. Damn England, if you want to copy us so much, at least get it right.

Look at me, I'm in england. I call the color of the sky purple and a stop sign means speed. Seriously, England could you be any more lame. You guys are like Bizzaro us, just not as good.
Stop trolling before you get your ass reported.
I am pretty sure that this post obviously satirical in its intent, almost to the point it borders on absurdism. If something this ludicrous from an anonymous person online made you angry even the slightest, you need to step back and take a long look at why you could allow something like this to have even any adverse affect on your mood, especially from something as pointless and fun as a message board on a videogame website.

See, you posted with the intent of teaching me a lesson to change me, but it turns out it was you who learned a little something about yourself. This could be a wonderful turning point in your life, and I am glad I could be a part of it!
I hate repeating myself, just get the point and move on.
So, this wasn't a Lifetime moment where you realize that everything is needs to be as serious as you take it, and realize start enjoying life a little more, spend more time with your kids, and learn to laugh, and more importantly, learned its okay to laugh out yourself...

Bummer. I had my itunes all queued up with a really touching song to make the moment perfect, but it looks like that song will be saved for another day. I am just happy I could try to help.

I'd say England will. They're a fair bit better at football than the American side (no offence).

Anyway, I hope they win. I'm supporting England this year, seeing as France unfairly beat Ireland with a handball. Actually, I just hope France get knocked out early (not because I dislike France, I just feel they shouldn't be there).

Hey, YOU'RE the one who suggested NASCAR, a strictly American league, should stage international stock car races. So don't give me the high-hat, chief.
So, if I get what you are saying, you don't want the high hat from me, which means that contrariwise, you would logically want the bass-drum from me...

Wait, sorry, I don't get it. I am unfamiliar with both the colloquialisms "don't give the high-hat" and "give the bass-drum", so, I apologize if you are left wanting on both accounts.

No, I dont take myself all too seriously. And do you want to know what else I dont take seriously? Trolls, they are pathetic and should be pitied. The fact of the matter is you were trolling, everyone sees that and just because you think a glorified "I was joking" is going to excuse you doesnt make it so.

Trolling WILL be reported and you will be forgotten by all here just as soon as you get banned for it, now... stop trolling.

Honestly, watching the World Cup and playing a drinking game I like to call "That guy is a pussy" is fun and hilarious. Basically, you watch the game and anytime someone takes a dive you drink... simple really. The dives can be really funny though, some of the crap they think they can get away with.
Must be tough watching the Italians & South American teams; you probably can't get through the first ten minutes without passing out! ;)

Edit:...or run out of booze!

High-hat: to treat in a condescending or supercilious manner.

You know, like I did to you.

I think the team that actually calls football 'football' will win. Bloody Americans, the rest of the world calls it football, why do you have to be different?

[sub]That was a joke by the way, not a rant.[/sub]
Other than the fact that Soccer was a nickname coined by the English for Association Football? I can't think of a single reason why... hmmm...

[sub]Fully aware of the joke, I just enjoy the delicious irony.[/sub]
The accents were a problem.

"Look what I got the yank to pay for a ticket! That sucker!"
"What was that, pal?"
"That's soccer, old chap. You bought tickets for soccer."
"Oh, all right then..."

Go USA! Stop disappointing me!

Well when I first saw the title of this thread I was like are you kdding me? But I guess I just don't watch enough professional football cause the last time I thought we had a chance to win anything was like a year or two back. I have some friends who are crazy fans though so I hope it's as good a game as it sounds.

Well, as an American, I think I can speak for a good number of us, in that we don't really care about football/soccer. And, well, if our previous world cup showings have anything to say, yeah, we are probably gonna lose to the English.
Why do you Americans insist on calling football "soccer" and calling calling rugby "football"?

American football does not even require use of your feet! (Exept for moving and shit)

Ps. This is a joke, I'm not REALLY racist, Xept when I'm drunk.

Pss. I know this reply has very little to do with you origional comment, I'm just addicted to nit-picking.
OOH OOH OOH!!! nit picking is fun, let me join you!

Firstly, we call it soccer because we can, American Exceptionalism and all that. Its the same reason we don't use the metric system, and why soccer isn't really that popular here to begin with. A second reason I call it soccer, is because I do so love the reaction from non-Americans.

Secondly, we don't call rugby football, we call Rugby, rugby, and Football, football. They are 2 different sports, and we recognize both. For example, my high school has both a football team and a rugby team. We also have a rather good soccer team in case you were wondering.

"American" Football, as you foreigners call it, actually does require use of your feet. Each game starts with a kickoff, where the kicker kicks the ball, with his foot mind you, down the field to the other team. This is also done after a team scores, to return possession of the ball to the opposing team. Also, after every goal, or, a touchdown, as they are called, the scoring team can choose to try and kick the ball between a set of posts for an extra point. ALSO, when a team doesn't think they can score a touch down, which is worth 6 points, they can attempt a field goal, worth 3 points, instead.

So, Football does actually involve feet being used. Hell, each team has a kicker and a punter.

I hope England win, of course, being English, but I try not to support football in any way. I think it's a great sport, but just the amount they get paided... And they say we just had an economic crisis... Footballer tax, would've solved it in an instant.

Well, that's like calling out Football "Handball" Because sometimes the players go to the side of the pitch and throw the ball back in. The Goalkeeper sometimes does it from his goal too.

If we lose against the USA, then my faith in the team will be destroyed. Knowing us though we'll either get cheated out of the Semis like we did in Germany against Portugal or go against a super team like Brazil or Spain. Either way I think we'll get knocked out in Quaters, if were lucky then the Semis.

"Ooooh Noooo! It is a only a touch! "
"Ow ow ow ow ow! "
"Ooooh Noooo! It is a only a touch! "
"A touch ! I fear I breathe my last!"
"Freeee Kiiick!"
*Applause*
"Grazie! Grazie tutti!"

Well, if I was a troll, you should have no problem ignoring me then. Which, I really don't think is the case in this instance. I said three comments ironically, then stuck around to take responsibility for them, especially once I realized that people where taking them seriously. You are the one who is being confrontational, I never had that intent. I thought that the idea of someone being confused about the world cup thinking it was a giant football tournament would be funny for both myself and others on the boards, but this was apparently not the case.

I mean, if I were a troll, I would just keep up what I was doing because if my goal was to get you riled up, it was apparently working, but I realized that, and tried to explain. And trust me, watching someone get mad over a fairly innocuous tongue-in-cheek comment rather entertaining, much more so than explaining things out like this, so, trolling at this point would be easier and more fun, but as I said, that was not my intent.

Now, on to you. When you come on these message boards, what is your intent? Do you come on hoping for a little anger rush and a fight, much like a guy taking steroid tends to do when going out to bars? Because, that is more common than you may realize.

Just thought I would change the subject so we can move on, and maybe learn something about you as well.

Well, when you are right, you are right. No real room for argument there. I might be able to make a case that I tend to be more sardonic then condescending, but at that point we would be just splitting hairs.

I'm English...........and rooting for the Americans!

Our team is full to the brim with overpaid morons that seems to lack any passion when playing for their country. Our most passionate player got a bit too passionate and ended up fucking his teammates girlfriend.

The simple fact is that The England football team really aren't as good as they think they are. Recently, they haven't even started to show some get up and go until after half time and the Capello hairdryer. Lazy is a recurring theme. And even when they are in the lead, they just give up and go to last ditch defending, making every game a pointless knife-edge affair.

Our national game is in a shit state. But as things just sort of carry on in an average fashion, they won't change. What we need is complete and utter failure at the group stages before people wake up and realise that something needs to change. It'll take a massive miracle for things to go right at the finals. Christ, we only just beat Japan, but they scored both of our goals for us!!

So yeah, I'm an Englishman that's supporting anyone but England until they decide to show up in more than just body.
