But I've had a turn in pickiness on my XBL friends list. I recently defreinded three people for being twelve and Scottish.
sounds like a good reason if you ask me

Most of the friend i have are ones whom i've participated with in the forum games/RP section or they friend me due to a witty comment i made once in a particular thread.

Also on a side note i do get quoted a lot with some of my posts i think maybe it's because of my name and people don't like the word Snooty and Englishman to be together.

On the occasion that someone has added me as a friend on The Escapist, I simply add them back and possibly quote one of their posts. Just so at least some kind of contact is made.

It doesn't really bug me.
I've had a bunch of people I hadn't heard about or run into add me.
And, if they were well-behaved, I added them.
Most of the random people I don't really talk to.
But there are some people in my friends list that I regularly exchange PMs with.

If they introduce themselves, I don't mind. Besides, think of it this way: "Strangers are friends we don't know yet!"

Meh, I don't get friend requests... I only know half the people who are my friends list, so that makes one...

Usually people tend to friend me when I say something that is to their liking.

Usually having something to do with using PETA activists for medical testing.

I like it if they then actually make an effort to talk. I normally add someone if they turn out to have something in common with me, aside from being on this forum of course. It's only a problem if they just seem to be collecting friends.

I have a reasonable idea why the few people who've sent me a friend request did so, but it wouldn't really make a difference if they were complete strangers I'd never even interacted with, since that 'friend' status doesn't obligate you to start lavishing attention on them or anything. You certainly could do that of course, or you could just say "Oh hey, a friend request" and keep blithely doing what you were already going to anyways (randomly posting in threads that catch your eye for me, heh).

I've accepted several friend requests I've randomly received, but not all of them. I do prefer it if we've interacted positively before, though.

The only person I didn't know that I added was MaxTheReaper, but that's just bandwagon-jumping. Really, who hasn't added Max?

I've been added by him after a few decent interactions.
*looks smug*

If I've never, ever interacted with someone who sends me a friend request, I just ignore it. I'm not that hard up for badges, and I'd prefer knowing that people I actually have fun talking to are online.
While a good policy, this still begs the question of why certain users are on your friends list. Not mentioning any names here, some of them are just curious.

On an unrelated note, how did we become friends in the first place?

None taken. He's actually my favorite nerdcore rapper.
