16, i have been playing games for over a decade...holy shit, i just realized i have been playing games for over a decade, thank you for making me realize this. 
Oh, dear... I'm 39, and the first time I touched gaming controls were in 1978. It was some kind of monochrome tennis simulator they hooked up to the TV. Since I was only 8, and a girl, I only got to try it once before I got pushed out of the way. I never knew what it was called, maybe it was some sort of prototype my stepfather built just for fun. When we moved in with him in 1980 he had an ABC80 personal computer, and I sometimes got to play solitaire or yahtzee on it. All ASCII graphics. My real father bought himself a Sinclair Spectrum when it came to Sweden, and I played some great games on it. In 1983, my mom and I bought a Commodore64...
I'm 18 years old, and I started with the Sega Genesis and Sonic and Tails at around the age of five.
I'm 20 and started my addiction with speed at the age of 2 or 3.

I'm 13, and in threads like this I've been saying that my first video game was either Duke Nukem 3D, or GTA 1.
But after thinking about it, I can remember my first video game being Starcraft, I remember playing with my friends, like we were Terrans and we'd "gather" minerals, and stuff like that.

Different games are marketed to different age groups. Older gamers think that newer games aren't as good as the ones they grew up with and visa versa. Basically, age affects this hobby like it affects everything in society, and it affects it quite a bit. But it's nothing that all of us, both veteran and n00b, don't already know.
I'm 26 - My cousin gave me his old Commodore 64 when I was about 8 and I played Batman on cassette until the damn thing broke. Then I got a SNES but I never finished Mario because my mum didn't like me to play for more than 2 hours at a time or to leave the console on.
Now I am a GROWED UP and I can play games as much as I want! Ha ha! Suckit, mum!
