I have a job, and a wife, so I don't play much more than that. But I have more time so I get to play other games as well. It would suck to only play one game.rossatdi said:Two closely linked reasons: i) Its a MMORPG and ii) I have a job and girlfriend and maybe four spare hours a week I can use for gaming.
game's only $5... $20 to download and get your first month.The_Oracle said:2. I don't have the money to buy the game or the subscription fee.

Geez, that's like 5 reasons in one. Too bad you don't have enough time to try out the RPG's you supposedly write. Also, don't worry, once you have a girlfriend for any length of time you'll realize she really doesn't take up any gaming time. In fact, it might even add a little. Nothing like having a pointless argument and following it up with head shots.rossatdi said:Two closely linked reasons: i) Its a MMORPG and ii) I have a job and girlfriend and maybe four spare hours a week I can use for gaming.

Good thing you didn't start playing games a decade or two ago. Games that you can't win, aren't new. Some of them you could get a kill screen if you're amazing, but most people would never get that close. I think it's just your number 1, for me. Having fun. I could care less about winning anything.D_987 said:Im not playing it because games are (for me) a combination of two things;

Ha ha, she's not really a gamer. I don't count the occasional wii session as gaming (I still have some dignity). I tend to book off a weekend of distractions for the RPGs. We only really get a chance to do this once every 6 months, I actually enjoy the process of the system creation.runtheplacered said:Geez, that's like 5 reasons in one. Also, that. Winning + fun = good game. There needs to be a better blend of MMO and shooter. Something based around exploration and team work rather than levelling or better weapons. I understand it's one of the things EVE is actually quite good at doing is the in-world community. But economic space sim is not a good start for me!D_987 said:Im not playing it because games are (for me) a combination of two things;

Neither of these apply to any MMO game ever (MMO combat has always been horrible) and I don't like clickin on the same thing just to watch a bar/number change - not my idea of fun.
I resent that.Caliostro said:Oh boy... I know you're trolling for badges, but
It's not that you like EvE, as much as I hate it personally I can understand someone else might like it, although I'll also be temped to think of them as extraordinarily boring people. It's that your thread wasn't so much a "Why I like Eve", but "why don't you like eve? what's wrong with you?" kinda thread.almo said:I resent that.Caliostro said:Oh boy... I've really found it interesting to see peoples' opinions on it. I see many people who have played it and say it's not right for them; that's really understandable. It's hard, it's slow, it's complicated, and it's poorly documented. But its difficulty and harsh penalties make everything you earn rewarding.
When I pulled my corp out of a bad alliance last week, it stranded one of our members in null-sec. They lost their ship, and I'm going have the corp pay most of the replacement cost since a corp action was almost entirely to blame for the loss. But the guys in my corp know that as a CEO, fairness to members is my top priority. So they stay. I've had several people stick with the corp for over a year.
Good thing we pulled out. A director in the executor corp of the alliance decided to take over and boot all the corps out of the alliance and take it for himself. That meant any corp that had put up a station in our null-sec area instantly lost any diplomatic ties with other alliances in the region and probably lost their investments.
I just don't see this kind of depth in other MMOs' social structures.
Then there's a few people (like you) who just say out of hand "it's bad."
