Poll: Ever been threatened in RL?

I have been stabbed, and I will tell you that it is definitely not a fun experience. I was lucky enough to keep my vitals intact, but to this day there is a lengthy scar on my stomach. I also didn't lose that fight.

For the most part though, people are all talk. They think they have an image to uphold, so if there is an audience, they will want to throw down. When it is just you and them, it doesn't come to fighting unless you have some serious grievances against each other.

I hope never to have to experience a stabbing. I can take a fair ammount of pain, I know because I had some injuries so a few beatings won't keep me down and out. But at times when I have the feeling that things are going to get rough, I always think: "What if he pulles a knife?" For some reason I always think that people who intentionally pick a fight, come prepared.

Yes, and even got stabbed with a pencil once for not backing down.

I've received a few threats involving knives and a lot of threats from unarmed assholes. People don't really like my appearance or my personality, and apparently that's reason for assault. Luckily enough most of the people that do threaten me aren't serious enough to actually go through with it.

If I was ever in a situation where there is a huge possibility I am going to lose, I will just go Tyler Durden on him, laugh while he kicks the shit out of me. Then when I am all bloody and fucked up, jump on him and spit in his face, after all he has no idea where I have been.

But that situation has never come. I have only been in one true fight, and I kicked the shit out of him in self defense (He came at me charging).

More times than I can count. Only two ended in a fight, and it was the other guy who started it. If things get tough, I'm almost always my usual sarcastic, smart-alecky self. Usually works. Although, in hindsight, joking about a big, angry dude's mom to his face probably *wasn't* my best idea.

Heh, my BMI would make me look borderline obese, but I'm built like a brick house. The local GP said I had my father's build and took little concern with my weight although I could drop a few pounds.. A lot of people didn't like me for being me in high school. I was the inoffensive person who had no qualms with anyone, but people still didn't like me for having long eyelashes and not liking football. You can assume the assumption they had and probably be right. Still, no one tried to fight me. I grew into my features, became a pretty thing and now I'm good looking and still built like a brick house. No fights. Too many cowards.

It certainly is, that was the first thing that got me in that situation and also the thing that got me out of it without any beating on either side.

Don't want to sound like the 'all knowing' here, but genuinely concern from my part. Your home is a place where you should feel save, from all the places there are. I hope you can get people to support you or maybe give you the chance of moving out or something, that isn't good.

I work in a take away, so yes, but rarely, two or three times a year. Best threat was by a woman who threatened to make a group on facebook to bash our reputation.

I was mugged once...dragged by my ponytail into a doorway in an alley, had a knife held to my throat and told that if I made a sound he'd cut my throat. That was awesome.

Also, I work in a tech support center at a university, so sometimes when I tell people that their computer is out of warranty or they'll have to pay money to have it fixed (we're not Apple-certified repair technicians, so we're not allowed to open it up and fix it without voiding the warranty), people can get pretty mad. I've been threatened by students and parents alike.

People threaten me usually when I'm sitting down, then I stand up and they back off and start whimpering. My size makes me very intimidating, but I've made friends with people who've threatened me. Only been in 4 fights during my lifetime, all were very one-sided, and 1 on 1 (the people stupid enough to actually fight someone twice their size never have any friends willing to back them up).

Yep, I've been threatened plenty throughout my life.
Had a few knives pulled, punches thrown, luckily my balls have floated me this far without bad experience. I guess I would attribute it to a cool head, I'm never even slightly aggressive so when someone tries to start something with me, I pretty much just call them on their BS and if they pursue it well, I extricate myself from the situation in the most non confrontational manner I can.

That being said, I've had some notorious run ins. Once beat down a guy who pulled a knife on me with an umbrella. Funniest thing I've ever seen.
