*spoilers* /duh
So... not too many people throwing in with the fascist slave drivers, surprise surprise. Nobody's really arguing on their behalf, but if they were, I wanted to take the opportunity to showcase a great quote ingame from
Marcus the Supermutant:
"The Legion follows Caesar, not his ideals"
Indeed.
The Legion are probably the worst group to prop up, not just because they're evil assholes, but because in time, with the death of Caesar, the Legion would fall into the control of a Legate Lanius (or like "might-makes-right" tyrant) or disintegrate into a huge displaced body of leaderless raiders.
Anyways, I did all the different options on different playthroughs, since I loves me some Fallout, but for polling purposes, my gut told me to go with Mr. House on my first cherry poppin' play through...
Why?
- I liked him.
- He is very scientifically minded. It struck me that he was the only real faction (present in this title) that offered a longer term look to the future and the scientific developments necessary to reestablish mankind on Earth or elsewhere (as he alluded to in some of his dialogue).
- He demonstrated the capability and personal acumen of socio-economic, scientific and military knowledge tempered with the dedication and willingness towards personal sacrifice required to see his goals realized, having ALREADY survived the nukes, established New Vegas and used a guiding hand to shape the current state of affairs to his advantage.
On reflection, I think it's fair to say that propping up Mr. House is as fascist as helping Caesar, but as flavors of fascism go I find the *superhuman* "philosopher king" easier to swallow than a regular human being a militant autocrat, respectively.

As far as other posters saying Mr. House would go into insane decline... maybe? Seems like a reasonable speculation, but for a guy who's already pushing 280 he seemed to know the score more than most of the folks in the game. I didn't see evidence of him 'already going insane', personally, though maybe that's a matter of perspective... I don't think fancying snowglobes and robots is all that nuts under the circumstances.
