You have an opinion. Awesome. I have one too. It says that not only are many/most of the new pokemon better than previous ones, but I PREFER HAVING A SHITLOAD OF THEM. Ok, you can't remember them all. That's because you don't play it as much as I have. Given the time, I could probably name all 493 so far, and after B and W comes out, those too.

See, the whole fucking IDEA of pokemon was to collect things. You know how to add staying power to that? Add more things to collect. And it's not like all the pokemon boil down to "walk into grass. Walk around grass. Use ball." Some only evolve when traded. Some only evolve when fed certain things. Some can only be obtained once a game in a boss battle. And there's the optional thing where you can get different colored pokemon.

But I guess some people only care about the gameplay. Understandable. I personally don't care much for turn based combat due to the ease of mastering it and chance involved. So how can we make it better? We could always add more abilities- oh wait, that requires more pokemon. In that case more skills, because a group of things you can only recognise from their names is so much better than a group of easily recognisable monsters.

But the funniest thing is this BS you people keep coming up with about how "Mario is the same" or "Twilight Princess=OoT." These series DO add things. Just because you don't pay attention to anything aside from the atmosphere doesn't mean the games suck. Generation 2 added so much to the games I don't feel like listing them, while gen. 3 brought double battles and those contests. 4 gave us online capabilities and day/night changes, and 5 will give us triple battles and seasons.

I get it if you want a better storyline, but going back to my opinion, Platinum had the best story in the series. It wasn't that anticlimactic BS that Emerald was, where you just talked to the fucking pokemon to save the day, or the lack of a threat that Soulsilver had, where the worst that would have happened would have been the enemy team getting new management. In Platinum you fought your way through hordes of enemies, then 2 reoccuring bosses, then the big boss, then one of the most powerful pokemon in the game. If you failed, the entire universe would have been destroyed.

TL; DR: Nostailgia BAD. BAAAAAAAAD.

Ugh, I never understood chinpokoman. I've always hated chinpokoman. The cartoon actually did a lot to lower children's IQ's everywhere because it didn't make sense on any level really. Why the fuck were these stupid things EVER big? Shame on you producers.

There is absolutely no reason for Pokemon to stop, not now, and not in the forseeable future.

First of all, if you don't like the new pokemon, fine, that's your opinion. But me, and quite a lot of others, like them alot. If anything, I think this newest batch might be the best in awhile, as they really remind me of the first generation of pokemon.

Second, pokemon never changes? Are you high? Pokemon has come a LONG way since Red and Blue. Sure, it might not look that way if you play every game in the series as they come out, but lets have a little test. I want anyone who says that pokemon hasn't changed to go and play Pokemon Platinum for no less than 5 hours. Done that? Good.

Now, I want you to go back and play Pokemon Red for no less than 5 hours. Done that? Good. Get it now? Pokemon has changed DRASTICALLY since the original. Sure, the very basic formula remains the same, but pretty much everything else has had a complete overhaul. Battle systems, type matchups, hold items, berries, abilities, the list goes on. Saying Pokemon Black and White are no different than Red and Blue is like saying that Super Mario Galaxy is the same as Super Mario Bros, just because they're both platformers.

I couldn't agree more, I love fire red and re-play it now and again but the handheld games suck more and more, they've already said they won't make a Wii version of the handheld games, so all they are doing now is milking this dead cow of a franchise. I stopped caring about the new games around about when gold/silver had died, and won't even begin to think about purchasing a new game unless it's titled "Pokemon Red/Blue for the Motherfucking Wii!", but that will never happen because they are lazy and love money, hell I'd probably do the same if I was them, just rehash the same old story over and over whilst only adding new and increasingly ridiculous looking pokemon.

On the other hand, why can't Nintendo get their heads out of their asses and actually make something like a proper overworld 3D Pokemon game? Imagine it. The game could even still be turn based but with a proper world and potential internet connectivity (Pokemon MMO?).

I know the Wii is a sack of shit when it gets to online, but if fking Monster Hunter can do it, why hasn't Nintendo/ Gamefreak tried anything like that for the past 10 years?

This thread serves no constructive purpose. If you don't like the new Pokemon, don't buy or play the new games or watch the show. If it no longer floats your boat, don't buy into it. But making threads like this is a waste of your time and everyone else's time and sure isn't going to stop Nintendo from making more Pokemon stuff.

My flirtation with Pokemon was brief, but I suppose I can see the appeal there. I see no reason why a game that is pretty much perfect at what it's trying to do should change. Change for the sake of change is never a good thing.

Millions upon millions of people buy, play, and love these games and have done so as children through adulthood now. There is no reason to change what works fine, or kill something that still has a massive fanbase and following.

I'm not a huge fan, but I really see nothing wrong with it.

My ONLY complaint of Pokemon goes back to its roots actually. The HORRIFIC sounds the pokemon make. Are you serious? Is Pikachu really making the same 8-bit squeak he has done since the original gameboy? I'm sorry, but those pokemon sounds were pretty damn horrible than, and they are still horrible now. I just want that fixed to more unique (AND CURRENT) pokemon sfx.

Jesus Christ, some of you need to take off the nostalgia goggles. Pokemon is no worse than when it first launched. Millions still love it, just because you don't, stop trying to ruin the fun many, many people still have with the games. The graphics are better, there's more to collect, more to do than ever before, I don't see how people can complain.

Kinda agree, hell it could be Multi-Platform, they would get most of the money anyway Because it is still owned by them.

only time will tell, and if you don't like the art, how about this, imagine that Black And White are the first Pokemon batch ever...now think what would happen if the original 151 came into this series...you would be saying the exact same thing...

Everyone, lets face it: Nintendo needs to take pokemon out back behind the shed, put the muzzle to its head and whisper their teary eyed goodbyes to the most abused and over-marketed series they have (next to, of course, the dried up burlap sack of a whore that is Mario).

The games really are just the same thing over and over and over. The entire draw of pokemon is the pokemon, and if the pokemon are lame now, the games have no value. Just play the older ones. If you've seen any of the pokemon from black and white, then you know what I mean. They have gotten just ridiculous.

Also, the show: I happened to have LOVED the original series and it is a corner stone of my childhood, but now... I mean my god. I can't help but think "Oh no, the future generation is gonna see this and do one of two things: love it (which would make me weep) or hate it and there-by think it is representative of what pokemon once was."

Nintendo, I beg you, end it.

Seriously, pokemon has always been dumb. I don't get why people think otherwise. Are you really expecting intelligent design out of a series with a thunder rat for a mascot? There have always been stupid Pokemon. There always will be stupid Pokemon. And even if the new ones really did look worse, it still wouldn't change the fact that they are actually changing things about the game. Granted most of it is stuff you won't notice unless you look it into the surprisingly deep and stupidly complex working behind Pokemon. For the people that do, the 4th generation actually brought a huge number of changes.

My little brother has played the old games. He's played the new games. When I asked him which Pokemon he thought were dumb, he named ones form all 4 generations. Little kids can see that Pokemon from all generations have been absurd. You can't because you're letting yourself be blinded by nostalgia. Pokemon has not become anymore ridiculous than it was at the start. You've just gotten older, and can't get past the stupidity you only now notice.

Agreed. It has gone on for too long now, it really is abuse. They don't do anything really special with the new games, just pump the same shit out over and over and it's really sad. Also, everyone knows the new Pokemon suck compared to the originals, almost everything about these new games are pathetic.

The TV show is even worse, it's literally soulless crap. I can't believe they can get away with it for so long, there should be study on it to see if it cause brain damage!

Making a thread to let your opinion be heard is not trolling. Get your facts straight.

If you got your facts straight, you'd realize that they still are putting effort into the new Pokemon games. Otherwise the 5th generation would have been flooded with flying/bug types. Yet there isn't a single one. They also wouldn't be implementing any new features, yet they still are.
