I've gotta go with Love'em! Why? Because I've tried other stores and wasn't happy with the service. Normally, not a big problem with bigger chains (polite) but not quite as knowledgeable and, whilelocal stores may be more more knowledgeable, I still wasn't satisified with the service because it took them forever to deal with the previous two customers before dealing with me...all while being continually distracted by their cellphones. Look, if you are at work and EVERYTHING is done, then you can play on your phone but I shouldn't have to wait forever because you want to stop every 15-30 seconds to text your friends/family. (That was ALL the employees). I'd rather deal with Gamestop.

Someone needs a list of all the trendy things to hate. I feel like I am falling behind.

Or wait, is this a movement to hate them for things other then their used gamed trade in policy?
Why would anyone hate them for that? If you don't like it don't fuckin use it. Simple. They aren't the only place to trade in games or sell used games. If they were then you would have a right to *****. Personally I am all about the instant gratification so I will take the $10 -$20 loss that I could have made on Ebay and take it to GS instead.
It takes advantage of those that have limited other options (or know of no others). I dislike the sales man that sales extra unneeded crap to the elderly even through the elderly had the option to not buy anything the salesman was selling.
How is it? If you walk into GS and they say I will give you 20 bucks you have a choice. You can say yes or no thank you. You can't blame GS for something GS isn't doing. We gamers are the ones keeping GS in business. You can't blame GS for taking our money when we are the ones giving it to them. You wanna start pointing fingers then gamers are the ones who are really to blame. Not the ones making money by making us happy. And sorry ignorance is not an excuse. The stupid should not be coddled.

GameStop is all right. I like the promotions they put together with some games, like extra perks for pre-ordering it through them. The selection is pretty good, and the GameStops around me all sell PC games, which is pretty great.

On the downside, as someone who used to work for Game Crazy, the customer service is much lower than I was used to providing, and the sale prices and trade-in values of used games were much better at Game Crazy. Some employees in the stores near me don't know how to take a no for an answer, and I've walked out without buying anything because they would keep bugging me to buy additional products and pre-order games as well as asking if I "was absolutely sure" I didn't want to buy them.

Still, with Game Crazy gone, all I have left is GameStop, so I'm all right.

The second part of that was an example. I can go the extreme version of an example as well:

I bet you blame rape victims for dressing provocatively.

Just because someone had the opportunity to not get ripped off, doesn't make ripping someone off suddenly not ripping them off.

Is there a UK equivalent to GameStop? I need to get a handle on what I'm supposed to be hating.

I love GameStop. They have great prices and a knowledgeable staff.

There is no other place I would go to buy games.

But I guess the store around me is just better than most, some of the BS people say about GameStop is nonexistent by me. Sucks for the rest of you.
Same here. I dunno what's up with other people's GameStops but I've always been treated good by the employees. Good luck for us I guess?
Yeah, I've never had a bad experience at any either. Though a friend had a small issue returning a used game once within the 7 days. The manager asked him 20 questions before allowing him to return it then said "Well next time bring it back right away," though they have the 7 day full refund policy on used games and it was within the 7 days. That's the closest thing to a problem either of us have ever had. All but that particular guy, at the 2 Gamestops near me, are awesome. We also don't like that guy because he doesn't shut the hell up and even if you tell him "I don't like FPS" when he suggests you a game, he keeps going on about how great they are.

The other guys get the damn point and talk about something else! I'll admit I'm not fond of the whole idea of only getting $35 trade in value on a game I played for maybe an hour and realized it sucked, but it's a small price to pay and I generally get something more enjoyable anyway. As for the people that say "current gen game prices are too high," they are $60 (at least in the US, I know elsewhere its a different number, then again I don't know if Gamestops are outside the US...) brand new just about anywhere you go, so your complaint doesn't really work.

I don't like gamestop that much.

Used to not mind them, but then one of their sales people kept trying to sell me fallout new vegas for 50 bucks claiming that Obsidian is one of the best companies in the world, and that Bethesda was directly related to the new vegas production, at which point I lost interest in doing business with them...

I learned my lesson about gamestop the hard way. Lose that black card they give you? You also lose all the store credit they owe you even if you still have a receipt with your account number on it.
I've had butt-loads of people complain the same thing to me when I worked in GAME (basiacally Gamestop in England). If the company could just issue you a new card, how many pikeies do you think would get a £100 on a card, "lose it" go to every GAME store in the county and get it refunded? In my county that makes nearly £3600. Not bad for a days work. Next step is just to buy stuff and then trade in for cash, maybe get £1800 pounds back depending on what you buy, not bad when you started with a hundred quid.

In short, it's A) to stop people stealing from the company, and B) to stop any potential dodgy employee stealing your money using that info, cause that's even worse.

Isn't Gamestop slowly destroying the videogame industry?

I get everything through Amazon or digital delivery.

Speaking from experience, the whole "hard sell" thing? I hate doing it as much as you hate hearing it. It gets drilled into your head that when people buy extra stuff, the margin is better, which means more profit, which means you still have a job. Maybe it was just my manager doing a "hard sell" tactic on me because of the "hard sell" he got from head office to try and make the company more money... well that's pretty likely. But anyway, point is, when it boils down to it it's what you get told to do. It's not for fun or to annoy people.

I've been to one before that was kind of sucky, but my local one is awesome with super nice people running it. I can find some awesome games there, too.

I hate how you could buy a game for 60 bucks there, come back the next day to return it and they'll give you up to 5 dollars max, if you're lucky.

I don't mind my GameStop, the employees there are nice and know what they talk about and they rarely pester me with preorder questions and stuff. They have the games I want most of the time and they're just a 5 minute walk from me, so it's really convenient for me.

I have rarely had a bad experience in Gamestop. None of that preorder mess that everyone seems to undergo. Most likely because I buy my games some time after they have come out. But the clerks are relatively pleasant. Wish that trade in system wasn't a huge rip off though. I buy a game for 60 bucks I want at least 40 back. None of this "20 dollars for a game from this year" shit.

I've had people try to defend gamestop to me. Despite me telling my story of them trying to sell my friend and me a used PS3 for the new price of 599USD+tax. How did we know it was used? Rubber bands on wires, the layer of dust, lack of bags. "that's how it comes" the manager said.

Not the first problem or last I've had there.
