I didn't need to watch the clip to know that yes, Glenn Beck is a moron.

As expected though, Lewis Black was once again very funny.

You know, the more we talk about that giant hairless mole rat, the more we feed into his already out of control ego. I think if everybody just ignores him for about a week, he'll shrivel up and wither away.

And does anyone else besides me find it strange that terrorist organizations issue death threats to Comedy Central for South Park, but not Fox News for, well, anything?
Why would they send death threats to a program that makes America look stupider with each passing moment? If anything, they should be sending Fox News money.

What does NAZI stand for, National Socialism. What is the current (and select few in the past) administration doing? Nationalizing the private sector. Nationalizing is Socialism plain and simple.
Wow...

Just Wow.

You've actually compared Obama to Hitler. With a straight face.

Just wow.
So I guess I did compare them if Obama himself is a Socialist, which he seems to be.
So you did then. Problem is that Hitler wasn't a socialist. He was a national socialist, and even then he diverted the party from it's original ideals into the Third Reich.

To put a basic point across: Words that sound the same can be used in different context. A woman who goes into the Labour party does not come to the end of her pregnancy. Someone can be conservative with their estimates without being Conservative.

Does Obama want to exterminate a race of people? No, I don't think he does.
The point you even questioned that is worthy of Fox News.
Did Hitler want to redistribute the wealth? Yes. Does Obama want to redistribute the wealth?
Did Carter, Lincoln, Clinton, Reagan, Bush, Thatcher, Mugabe, Stalin, Lenin, Churchill, Major, Pot want to re-distribute the wealth?...Yes, they all did.
Lets see:
I was talking about Socialism.
No, you weren't.

You are directly comparing Nazism to Socialism, which is what I brought you up on. Not mentioning the names of the leaders of those parties doesn't hold you any less responsible for slanders against either.
Now go back to your hole.
At the Escapist, we try and keep our conversations free of personal attacks. I hope you can do the same.
First off I took your "Wow" quote as an attack on me.

Second, I know Hitler changed his ideals. But my point is based on the OP's topic. When he mentions Hitler, he's relating it to Socialism. Yes he is putting a negative connotation on Socialism, you know, doing the whole "scare tactic" thing. But he's doing it because he believes Socialism has no place in America.

Redistribution of wealth has been in motion for decades. I know.

I was talking about Nazism and not Hitler. I compared Nazism and Socialism and related it to the current administration. Now, by saying Nazi, people immediately think of Hitler. When I say current administration, everyone will think of Obama. But funny, congress is part of the administration, all 535 of them. I was not, I repeat, NOT making a comparison of Hitler and Obama, as individuals, in my original post that you responded to.

I'm sick of hearing about the Nazi's... for gods sake, ever since Hitler we've used them for every joke going. Its annoying and frankly racist.

Glenn Beck is a genius in the fact that he is using commonsense to show how we will lose our freedoms if we don't stand up to the socialist agenda and show them that they can't tell us what to do.

We are Americans, we are free. We don't answer to the government, the government is to answer to us.

The problem that people have with Beck, is that they can't refute what he says because he has the facts on his side.

Given you appeared to be correlating one of America's best received presidents with Germany's most feared dictator, you can sort of see my point.

I'm confused here... when you say OP, do you mean jakeEHTlovless, Glenn Beck or Lewis Black? Lewis, being a Jewish Commentator, probably goes to the Mel Brooks/Spike Milligan theory of Hitler. Glenn Beck makes analogies that make my head hurt, like "Global Warming is a lie used to usher in a New World Order". And @jakeEHTlovless seems a relatively harmless stoner.

I was talking about Nazism and not Hitler.
By which you mean Nasism or Nazism? Different ideologies. The former doesn't consider the Jewish people to be monstrous demagogues. Or Blacks.
I was not, I repeat, NOT making a comparison of Hitler and Obama, as individuals, in my original post that you responded to.
Ok, all you did was compare The Third Reich to the current administration. I can't see anything wrong in....

Hold on...

Have you ANY evidence for this, other than the word Socialism in both the names? (A word that works as well as "People's Republic of China") Hmmm...Republic, eh? Maybe the Republicans are all Chinese???????

Dude, republicans made Beck, Limbaugh and Palin popular. They scream at rallies that Obama is a nazi communist muslim atheist and vote for Bush. I'm fairly certain that the "Get a Brain! Morans" dude unfailingly votes republican. Oh yeah, and Michael Bay.
The thing is, people who listen to Beck or Limbaugh or Coulter or Hannity for anything other than comic relief simply cannot be smart, full stop. And since those people have millions of fans and make millions of dollars, I'll go on believing that republicans are total mouth-breathers.
You do realize that your generalizations(this post and the one previous to it) do not represent all republicans don't you? Hell, do you know it doesn't represent most republicans. You're looking towards a minority for you opinion. That's generalizing and stereotyping. Hell, in this case it's even demonizing, which is akin to dehumanization. You know who practiced a lot of dehumanization. Hitler. You. Are. Hitler. (for god sake tell me you got the point of that).
As for civilised, there is one very clear line. Civilised countries do not torture. Bush's America, therefore, was to be counted among places like Yemen and Turkey.
Past administrations mistakes that have been fixed. I do have to ask though, where does your definition of civilized come from? Somewhere worth linking to? Or should that have been prefaced with "IMHO"

Since G.W left office Jon Stewart and friends only have Glenn and Rush to rip on now. We need more people like Glenn Beck. I mean it, seriously.

Straight up, it'd be hard to tell who has more Nazi paraphernalia; Glenn Beck or Mel Gibson.

What bothers me is people voted "no" in this.
Maybe the context of the question threw them off, theres a few posts who say he isn't a moron in the traditional sense. It's Sentience vs Sapience, yes he is an educated man but he doesn't act like it OR He thinks the world is flat and the sun revolves around it. I think the former rather than the latter. Hence my "Yes" vote.

The average republican can't point out Germany on a map, much less does he know anything about European history. The only thing he knows is "Hitler" and even his understanding of that is only a very nebulous definition of "teh badz".

Hell, the average republican thinks that health care is more akin to nazi atrocities than invading countries, killing civilians and torturing people.

The average republican, therefore, is easily swayed by anything a hate-monger like Glenn Beck says.

The only good thing is that they give us in actual civilised countries a perennial target for our scorn, contempt and ridicule. The average republican, to people who can read and write, is a fucking joke.
Your generalizations are HORRIBLE. The average Republicans are educated, hard working people. People who earn what they work for. People that know better than what you think they know. I take offense to what you said because of how untrue it is. And referring that America is uncivilized is the "fucking joke". All I gotta say is Fuck you, and get off your horse.

Your out of control. I know for a FACT that 99.5% of people that go to rallies, more specifically Tea Parties, that these people are much like me. I know better, they know better. I know how to filter what I hear as fact. They know how to filter what they hear as fact. Yes there is that one asshole who seems to be loud as shit who actually thinks Obama is all of the above. How do I know? I'm active, I go to these places, I talk to people. Do you know any republicans on a personal level? Have you met thousands in different parts of the country and talked to them face to face? Sorry, I have.

The right may have the "controversial" people you listed. But what about Bill Maher? What about Olbermann? What about Chris Matthews? And most of Hollywood? There are plenty of actors/actresses that are clearly stupid as a brick, yet they follow the left side.

And your opinion on what makes nations civilized is completely obsure, and if you go by that logic, name a few civilized countries. And if you can, say if they are currently engaged in a armed conflict of some sort.

Why do threads about Glenn Beck always seem to go several pages deep if everyone hates the guy so much?

What was the saying again? Don't feed the troll? I think that applies here. Stop posting and it goes away. Unless you guys like getting each other off agreeing how much you can't stand the guy. Seems kinda boring to me, but whatever.

This is ridiculous. You know exactly what I'm talking about yet your being incredibly critical.

I'll restate:

My original post, the one where you quoted and used the word "Wow" multiple times, was explaining why Beck uses the words Hitler and Nazi. Because Nazism is a socialist ideology. The current administration (there's a reason I keep using this term, I'm not singling out Obama) has passed, and wants to pass socialist styled bills. Who is the most known Nazi in the world? Hitler. Hence why he, as in Glenn Beck, keeps referring to Hitler and Nazism. Glenn Beck doesn't like socialism. He believes it has no place in America.

Am I clear?
