I said 'Nope', because Bungie is very special, and took many risks with the franchise that Microsoft (a great company, but a bottom-line oriented one) won't take. They did the great ODST with no hint of Master Chief that, althought a limited game, is much more the real precursor in terms of game mechanics to the awesome and almost perfect Halo Reach than Halo 3.
THe enterviews that I am seeing from both teams and the images of Halo CE Aniversary give me the feeling that Halo has gone corporate. They are going with less riskeé colors, more COD kind of orientation, saying that leaving Master Chief lost in space was a 'great mistake', etc.
Bungie was the heart of the franchise, infusing it with feelings. Microsoft was thefunding behemoth that provided the company with a body. I am very afraid that the franchise will wither and dye, being slowly wattered down until tthe very last hint of flavour is lost.

I just hope that Bungie does survive and thrive in their new endeavour.

I will buy Halo CE Aniversary, if only for achievements and new graphics, because I still play the original CE in my 360. Halo 4? I need to see more of it to make up my mind, but I am not holding my breath.

Halo has always sucked as soon as they made Halo 2. The only good one was Halo: CE. Who the eff decided a Super Soldier would run so sluggishly and then require an armour upgrade to even sprint? Genius' obviously.... 343 might actually make it not be so slow and actually make it good!

Don't get me wrong, I like the story of Halo, in fact, the story is something that is pretty rare these days when it comes to games, but the game play is extremely slow and the fact it takes full magazines to kill someone annoys me massively. I liked ODST... up until I realised silenced weapons were completely useless because you couldn't shoot an enemy in the head and kill them outright. You tried to use stealth and anything more than one bullet and enemies were all over you.

Fingers crossed they make the game play much better and then stick to the good story.

...No, I didn't think so.
The fourth Star Wars movie, Phantom Menace. Put some thought into your post before you open your mouth.
That movie sucked a dick and a half.

Ummm Super Mario World ? it was called Super Mario Bros 4 in Japan.

OT: Look I love Bungie, they are a great developer, but their departure was a smart decision, Halo needs a dedicated 1st party developer and Bungie are not that kind of developer if you look into their history and I do think they have done enough with Halo.

And you don't know, a new developer might bring new ideas to the frnachise.

I definitely think it can be awesome, but we are just going to have to wait and see. To be honest, the single player doesnt concern me much. I truly do think they will handle that right. However, my real concerns come in with the multiplayer. Bungie was FANTASTIC to their fans, and took the multiplayer in Halo to heart. Will 343 do the same?

Poll is different from the original question, hissssss...

Could it be a good game? Absolutely.
Can it live up to Bungie's standards? They're not making the game, so no it cannot.
I am still gonna get it, and enjoy it, but whether this game turns out good or bad, depends on 343, not Bungie.

From all I've seen they are dumping the old game on a new engine and shipping, profit ftw!

So yea it will have the Bungie standards, cuz it will just be the old game.
i think you may be thinking of the Halo:CE Anniversary Edition they're releasing..all we've seen of 4 so far is a short teaser

OT: I have high hopes for it, like others have said 343 has some of the same people Bungie had working on it, so the talent will still be there

My answer would be probably not, but since the poll lacks the option I'll just go with the simple and pessimistic nope. It's pretty damn hard to live up to one of the greatest fps developers out there for anybody.

Allow me to put it this way.

Bungie made Halo 1, 2, 3, ODST and Reach.
All of these games where awesome and to some of them had Nathan Fillion appear at some point.

343 made Halo Wars.
Halo Wars was shit and had the worst character ever devise as the main hero.

So yeah- lets all watch Halo 4 go down like the LZ 129 Hindenburg- ON FIRE.

Call of Duty is more of a brand name. COD4 was no more a sequel than different pairs of Nike shoes are sequels to each other.
Are you serious? Either this is a joke, or you've never played 1-4.

OT: Maybe. I'm keeping Retro Studios in my mind, the guys who made Metroid Prime and the new Donkey Kong Country. So it's possible for a new developer to do a sequel well (some people have even said DKCR is better than the originals), but we won't know with 343 until the reviews are in.

Possibly, because so far we only have a Trailer to go on. I hope it does since I am really looking forward to this game.

MGS4? Don't be so daft, it's a fantastic sequel and end to the series. Also how about Resident Evil 4?

OT: Will it be as popular? Most likely? Will it live up to the mediocrity of the previous games? Definitely.

Resident Evil 4; Terrific.

Metal Gear Solid 4 on the other hand was convoluted fanservice of the umpth degree. The entire 4th (there's that number again :) chapter was dedicated to showing just how great the first MGS was.
