I always expect myself to create better... But of course when I do better my expectations raise higher. But really, if I actually met my expectations then why should I draw anymore?

In regards to recording music, I've hated the way plenty of of my songs have ended up sounding when I played them back. Part of art is trial and error, and error typically is associated with you hating your own work.

I've never created a piece of art that I've been 100% satisfied with, which is frustrating, but I think that's how people improve.

Yes. I do stand-up comedy and put it up on YouTube. I'm consistently told it's very good, and I can appreciate that to some extent, but it's always extremely painful to see, and I can never actually watch it.

Ehh, it's all part of making arts. This is hitting especially close to home right now, 'cause I'm putting together a portfolio to get into art school, and I'm not liking a lot of my old stuff, though my family loves it. I'd say my biggest problem here is not knowing when to stop, 'cause I'll think that it needs a few more lines, and maybe some more shading, and by the time I'm done, I've messed it up and it just looks crowded.

tl;dr version: Most likely, you'll never see your own art as perfect, so just accept its flaws and move on.

Yes, I can't stand to look at my own writing. Remember that "you are your harshest critic". Artists judge their art much harder then anyone else ever will because they are far more intimate with it. I think it's normal. It drives you to do better and make something even better next time. If you were always happy with your work, then you'd never try harder.

And since roughly...
Post 2000, I guess?
Maybe a bit before that.
Ahh cultists, that changes everything.

Carry on!

I suppose that's true. XD
I am also a creature of awesomeness.

Ask one of my many followers.
*mindless drone voice*
It is tr-SHIT!
I thought that shrink deprogrammed me!
I'm getting my money back.
*heads out to get revenge*

Also, since I'm not a serious artist, if I make something, I'm usually happy with it at the end. While I'm making it, however, the entire thing bugs all kinds of hell out of me.

I like most of my writing, but I can find minor flaws in a lot of it. I think that might be a problem because then I don't improve or know how to, and I wish I disliked my writing more to be blunt.

With my music, however, I always think I'm not playing right and things like that, and I hope it stays that way, so I can keep improving, even though I need to start practicing a lot more more often.

People always tell me I'm good at both, though.

IF YOU DON'T HATE EVERYTHING YOU DO YOU CAN'T BE A REAL ARTIST
WHERE IS THE SELF-LOATHING?
IF I DON'T SEE SOME GODDAMN SELF-LOATHING RIGHT NOW, YOUR ASS IS GONE, RECRUIT

But yeah.
Being a perfectionist can kind of suck.
In case you haven't noticed, Max, [sup]which is likely because you do not look at my posts :-([/sup] my loathing is directed outwards.
Doing realistic portraits of people was the worst thing for me. I wore through three sheets of paper once because I didn't think I got the distance and angle between their eyes exactly right.

I used to animate flash. After making a bunch of my movies, I hated them all but everyone around me was enjoying it. I don't like a lot of things that I have made.

Almost every artist I've ever met hates at least a little something about their art, and that hate is what makes them strive to be better with each new piece.

Designers and commission artists always seem to be the ones to hate what they make the most, since often times they have to make something for the customer that they would never in a million years make by choice.

Clever attempt, but you will not get me to admit to anything!
Yeah, drawing has always been something I've wanted to try, but I think I'm awful at it.
I mean, objectively, it's not horrible but it's not perfect enough.
And so we get to the root of your terrible hatred towards others! If you cannot draw their faces correctly, you will make their faces match your drawings!
...this is brilliant.
I did take a multimedia class this last semester, and I was mostly happy with the stuff I did because I didn't take a damn thing seriously and just tried to make something that looked cool. Apparently that makes for good projects.

I voted no, but I figure it depends. There's some poems I wrote that I hate but I sincerely think they simply are bad. I used to be a somewhat renowned mapper for Warcraft 3 though, specialized in making landscapes using the world editor - I was fairly good at that and really loved nearly everything I created during that time.
