I use to carry a blade around.
I got mugged once and when I reached for the blade and grabbed it, they got spooked and smashed me in the top of the head with a rock.

weapons never seem to lead anywhere good.

I'm shopping about for a compact pistol if anyone has some recommendations.
i've heard wonderful things about 9mm subcompact glocks.
have one on hold, in a manner of speaking.

but everyone has their preferences. shop around, try some out. find what you like. :D

i carry a 'letter opener' in my purse.
it's actually an eight inch dagger.

usually people avoid me because i actually use it to open mail in public.

and i have some scary friends who definitely do carry guns.

as for me, i'm waiting until i'm 21 and can legally carry a concealed weapon.

until then i'm good with my remington 700 series sniper rifle for home-invasion situations.

though i also plan to get martial arts training. i'd rather not have my own weapon turned against me. :p

I am equipped with the most evil and frowned upon weapon of all time. The kick in the balls.

I once carried a knife for protection, but that was only for a short period of time.
I don't feel the need to today.

Where I live was meant to be statistically the most dangerous place in Britain on multiple occasions, but I don't carry weapons, I'm learning Krav Maga.
Where's that then?

No I don't carry a knife; I am not foolish enough to - your more likely to have it turned on you than you'll ever need it; besides which I'd never honestly stab someone, I think too highly of my morals. That and I don't believe half of you...

EDIT : London - possibly the worst for knife crime, not for gun crime.

I only carry a switch with a 5 inch blade, I live in a pretty crime ridden shithole of a town though, so I should probably upgrade to a pistol

I live in Vienna. I neither need any weapons, nor do I want to use them against other humans.

I feel sorry for everyone who feels the need to carry weapons around. Either having such a dangerous life would suck, being paranoid would suck, or being a (concealed) psychopath would suck. If you think its cool or whatever, you are a psychopath in my humble opinion. I have never carried around a weapon. I may have consciously put a cigarette lighter in my fist once in a while, but I carry those around anyway and not for that reason.

Violence solves nothing. Except in games.

On a side note, I do own four replica swords which I keep in my room. One is a katana which might bash someone's head in if necessary. I would only use it to threaten a possible intruder though. I'd dread the consequences if I'd actually seriously injured somebody.
