Ah,well thanks for clearing that up :) and i accept that you dont particularly like it,many people dont, and you make a point about it being too heavy for the radio stations, but maybe the radio needs to broaden its horizons?or dedicate time for that music or whatever...
Well, it's more that that kind of music has content that the FCC finds... undesirable.
So the FCC finds problems in heavy music that can have meaningful lyrics, even if theyre not 100% audible, but still lets Pop music get away with crap like
''guns dont kill people,rappers do''
''ill take my clothes off and it will be shameless, because everyone knows thats how you get famous''
''Ooooh you touch my ding ding dong''
''smack my ***** up''
''feet down, ass up,thats the way i like to fuck''...for the masses to hear?

total BS...
Now I realise that this post was a made a while ago but:
Goldie Looking Chain are a joke band. Don't take them seriously.
And The Prodigy are what little good is left of that genre, just because it's electronic and the lyrics aren't necessarily deep and heartfelt don't mean it's BS, it is dance after all.
Ok,you have a fair point...i know that Goldie Lookin' Chain are a joke band...i find their music pretty damn funny myself...i kinda added the 'guns dont kill people, rappers do' to make my post look better =P but on the other hand,if a total dick flap was listening to them and for some reason took them seriously its a bad message =P
And as for Prodigy...i know its dance music and is probably better than most of the other shit thats out there, but i still cant stand them...

I don't really care what lasts and what doesn't, there'll always be plenty of stuff to listen to if you've got an open mind.

I would, however, love to see Avenged Sevenfold disappear and never return. But apparently that's just me.
I KNEW that saying i liked Avenged Sevenfold would get me flamed...
But can i just ask WHY you would like to see them disappear?
I respect your opinion, but im just curious...

Judas Priest are still gigging and producing albums. Its been around for several decades and its still going strong. I foresee that Metal will be around for a long time to come, whatever form it takes.

heavy music will be around for a while. the bands around now are basically working off of the kinda sound that groups like Slayer and Children of Bodom started up. Besides No one can destroy the metal, the metal will strike you down with a vicious blow. 10 points to whoever can guess where thats from

I grew up on heavy music and still listen to it on a daily basis. Heavy music is kinda labeling it though and I don't think you can really label it all like that. Well, you can but you'd be including some bands that don't sound anything like each other in the same category and that's not right. Some people still consider Clutch as "heavy" but they kinda have more of a bluesy feel to them now. Still <3 them though...

God, I hope that after many years into the future of musical development people will not be calling Napalm Death or Carcass "classic".
'tis a thread about heavy music after all. And those are classic, timeless metal.
Ha ha. Come back and check that question in a few years and well see the consensus.

4 Words for you:

Rage Against The Machine.

I honestly can't see how their music won't carry on into the future, even if they don't record any thing else their music from the 90's is as still as meaningful now, and I think for any teenagers who want to rebel in the future, they'll know RATM.

If they don't they're deprived teenagers.
The only thing that Rage made me rebel against was myself for actually listening to a whole CD by them. And since you can't see, I'm going to assume you can't hear either? Maybe I've got this all wrong. What's so great about them that I am missing?

Honestly, it's just anpinion. You aren't right and you aren't wrong. You may not like them, but there are people out there that do. So what. You are entitled to your opinion.

Cradle of Filth will stand up to Time, God, and even Cher. (Yes, there are forces in this world more powerful, but not hotter, than Cher).
Their songs are meaningful, and just pure epic win.
Unless you dislike Black Metal, then your opinion will differ.
Ok, I'm gonna go ahead and shoot myself in the foot;

I love Cradle of Filth, but I doubt they'll ever obtain the "timeles" status of bands like Sabbath or whatever. I don't think they'll be forgotten, no. But timeless? Never. Perhaps to an extent among metal fans. But never timeless in the sense we talk about bands like Queen or ABBA or whatever.

No, unfortunately.

And here is the reason...
Back when "yesterday's" bands were around, you could only listen to what's played on the radio, fledgling music television and general popular media.

Discovering new bands was the job of radio DJ's, now, you can go on the net, type Metalcore into Google & basically get music by all of those bands you mentioned, singles used to sell MILLIONS, you're lucky if a top track sells a tenth of that now.

It's all down to the way culture has changed, I believe that has more to do with the lack of "timeless" classics than the argument that "it's just noise".

YOU now have the power to discover new, unknown and challenging music, rather than listen to the force-fed bullshit played over 95% of airwaves the world over.

I think heavy bands have staying power. My favorite band at the minute are In Flames, they've been going 19 years and they just get better with every album and show no sign of stopping soon.

Demon Hunter play 'heavier music' and play some of the most beautiful music in the world (in my opinion) but because they are a small metal band most people will ignore them and that is a very sad fact of life :(
