Reviews are opinion, if his matches yours, great. If it doesn't, find someone else to listen to.
He simply focuses on what he perceives as flaws. He usually mentions one or two good things that stood out as well. For me, I disagree with some things, but most of the time it is the really really really annoying broken bits in games that ruin them for me. The Mako, for instance. I loved Mass Effect, don't get me wrong, loved loved loved it. However, I spent more time trying to get the damned thing to go where I wanted it than... anything else in that game. Some games the annoying bits mean I don't play it at all. So for me, it is a nice "heads-up" on some things so I know I'll be spending some time being pissed at the game if I do try it out.
