for all the trippiness of your avatar... it's the pineapple that bothers me... It's not flashing.. it's not rotating.. it's not doing anything.. it is an unchanging standard in a sea of psychedelic sensory input... I.. I.. all... will worship... the pineapple...

jeez we have been getting this type of threads lately. Come on man you could have used the search bar or something. You have like three posts? Oh man don't tell me you got an account just to ask this question man.

He's a critical advisor. And a useful one at that but he's not someone that you should take his thoughts as law. No one is like that.

He's generally very good at breaking down why he doesn't like something. Even in the many cases I disagree with him, I still get his point.

Thankfully, I don't play half the crap he reviews. But the stuff I do play that he does review is a hit or miss. Then again, I don't watch him as a guide for my games, I just think he's entertaining and sometimes able to express my opinion in a more colorful way.

I do agree with him, even on games i own and enjoy playing I can see where he comes from.

For example: Far Cry 2, I found it a good game to just mess about on, but always knew (?) that I was just running back and forth ffrom one faction to another, then back again. So wasn't acomplishing anything.

Comedian/Critics are a bit brutally honest but he goes way over top for the comedy so while there is a kernel of truth in what he it is smeared in the unnecessary Tabasco sauce of over the top angry fast paced humour.

I think that Yahtzee's videos are more for entertainment than anything. It's funny to hear a British guy use the "F" word so creatively. If people are taking everything he says literally then they need to find a new hobby apart from video games.

I take what he says with a grain of salt... There are some games he really liked that I tried and hated (Prince of Persia. Don't judge me.) and there are some games he ripped on that to me are really fun. Frankly, it's entertaining to watch a monkey jump around and fling poo at video games, and really that's what Yahtzee is. This isn't an insult, mind you, the monkey I'm referring to is quite intelligent and doesn't really fling poo, more like shout insults... So I guess the metaphor is... It's like watching an ADHD adolescent in a cage yelling at video games. Entertaining.

Reviews are opinion, if his matches yours, great. If it doesn't, find someone else to listen to.

He simply focuses on what he perceives as flaws. He usually mentions one or two good things that stood out as well. For me, I disagree with some things, but most of the time it is the really really really annoying broken bits in games that ruin them for me. The Mako, for instance. I loved Mass Effect, don't get me wrong, loved loved loved it. However, I spent more time trying to get the damned thing to go where I wanted it than... anything else in that game. Some games the annoying bits mean I don't play it at all. So for me, it is a nice "heads-up" on some things so I know I'll be spending some time being pissed at the game if I do try it out.

Even for the games that I really like that he has reviewed (CoD4, MW2, HAWX, Burnout), I agree with what he says, because he points out things that other reviews do not, and they are true or funny. And if he says something bad about a game I like, I don't care, because it is his OPINION and does not effect me.

As with every Yahtzee-related thread:

He is not a reviewer; he is an entertainer. He does not make accurate statements about games, because his intention is to entertain you. If you take his claims as accurate, then you are probably delusional.
As with every time someone makes this point:
If he didn't base his humour in good observations, it wouldn't be funny. His claims are often accurate and incisive but he does frequently miss out on dealing with large parts of games. He admits his various biases readily and doesn't try to moderate his opinions to account for them. But yes, he is a comedian first and a reviewer second.
