Do you guys/gals have a main class you like to play in Rpg's like Dnd or MMORPG's like WoW. If so how'd you decide that it was the class for you?

I think about this way too much and I really wanna stop changing my mind :)
why is ROGUE not included? and no rogue is not DPS, rogue is rogue we do fucking everything from scouring to infiltration to massive rape to support. Hell I've seen rogues speced out as archeologists, and they were better at it than anyone else.
Umm if you check the WoW site and actually all the dnd books a rogue is considered a dps class, and so are rangers so i kinda put them in the same bubble cuz theyre the same...but ones less sneaky and one likes to do it from behind :)
WoW doesn't have a say in the matter, and since I use D&D as the (nerd) standard, yeah you can spec a rogue for DPS, you can also spec him for pretty much everything else including human debuffing (anything he can sneak attack he can debuff) so no they're not DPS and whoever told you that is wrong (4Ed is wrong) *continues to whine pointlessly over the internet* >_>
um ok, wow is an mmo so it does count btw. What game has archaeologists in it and why does that matter. Can a rogue tank? no. Can a rogue control mobs? no. how exactly is that speccing a rogue for anything? I guess you can, but they suck at it. Wizards get a special mention because they can use all sorts of spells that can make them tank more, control crowds, buff allies and dps. Rogues can't do that.
do you really want me to post char sheets for a rogue, that can tank, one that can crowd control, one that specializes in using magic devices and one that does a strange form of buffing?
was it a multi-class? because rogues have no spells they just have their sneak attack and abiity to dodge stuff. And dodging crap doesn't count since some spells will still hit you, paper hp (any level 20 will be imba anyway) wont save you. Hamstring and artery are the only ways I know of debuffing someone with a rogue and that's still not worth mentioning a rogue as a separate thing. If you can prove that a rogue is really effective at all these things then I will admit my mistake. So go ahead

Eeeh...Out of these very vague classes, tank.

If I'm keeping my team safe, it's all good. I switch between DPS and tanking depending on what's what.

That said, I'm probably better at DPS. Top 50 guild's Lead Shock Warrior/Caller on GuildWars FTW.

Yeah that's pretty much where I come from, I'll switch from tank to dps but I like maining things so I can get good of them...and I dont like being a jack of all trades because a team doesnt need another dude who can do everything a team can(kills the point of a team). But yeah I always do tank or dps and go through phases of each but never finding what suits me best.

depends on the game... online, I'm a healer, but in a singleplayer rpg like DA:O or I'm a warrior

I'm always a mix of combat and something else, like in MAss Effect I was a Vanguard which was a mix of Biotics(magic equivalent) and combat.

In MMO's I've been tankytanks, but mostly DPS. In most RPG single player games I'm just the straight warrior. Keeping it simple really

It all depends if i feel like being an unstoppable and immortal badass then i go tank and be a rogue at the same time. If i feel like casting elemental spells and fucking my enemies up from afar i go sorcerer/wizard/warlock.

Mage.

Hes almost always the most versatile and to a certain extent, powerful class.

And in normal (NON ONLINE) rpg's there are almost always a multitude of incredibly gamebreaking spells.

Bardbarian. Yes that's right. Noobs roll bards and pros roll bardbarians. :)
Lumberjacks are cooler! Who else is going to wrestle a bear when it breaks into your house an tries to steal your wife? A Bard? A Barbarian? I don't think so, a Lumberjack!
yes it is true that neither a bard nor a barbarian will be able to wrestle a bear when it's kidnapping you wife, but this is a BARDBARIAN! The most imba all around thing in the world of rpgs. Do you know what kind of stats you have to roll to get a bardbarian?
Bardbarian ftw
I think ill just go with a freaking soldier bear. I think that beats the bardbarian.
