I just can't help playing good. Since most dialogue options

-I will do this for free, as I am nice.
-I will do this after you pay 1 billion dollars and eat three live babies
-I will do this for free... but really I'll just go and eat a live baby and blame it on you.

So kinda, duh, I'm gonna choose 1.
Well the way that's worded, how could you not pick number 2? Sure you gotta rescue their chickens, or kill somebody who stole their wife, but you get 1 billion dollars and THEY have to eat three live babies! I WANT TO SEE THAT!

When there's a choice of good/evil Me and a friend usually both get the game and he plays an orphan helping, angels singing goody-twoghoes and I play as a "run for your lives he's coming", baby-eating evil puppy-kicking murderbeast, then discuss the differences and say which we think gets you better stuff (usually good)
We had to rope in an extra dude for Fallout 3 though, that was hard to convince him tghat we were sane.

You know the routine... 1st playthrough good, 2nd plathrough evil and then 3rd time a good guy who steals.

they never seem to do neutral well they always expect you to be a saint or a baby eating psycho. I am rather neutral, I will kill one guy and save the next with no real inclination either way and that usually screws me over in alignment specific abilities and leaves me with less options

Well it depends on if you can kill the npc or not. If you can't I just pick the dialogue for more money. If you can kill the npc however I'll do the quest with good dialogue.... Then I'll shotgun/stab you in the face... or put a grenade in your pocket.

It's almost a standard now for RPGs to have a way for you to choose your characters motive. Some play as good characters. Others play as evil people. But what do you play as and why? I'd say I like to play as evil because it allows you to play the game more freely.
I normally like to play the good guy, that true honest to god jedi like guy you wish exisited.

The second, after absorbing the story I play more down the middle and the last time I play...total bastard.

I usually role play the game as the good guy first, it comes more natural to me. I might explore other possibilities during the following playthroughs.

I usually go for the evil route, but I do so rationally. Instead of burning down a village, I'll help out the villagers, get some stuff, recruit some followers and the like. I'll threaten or lie to get better rewards, but if I can't get any more, I'll accept what I do receive politely.

Then it's time to switch gears and enter evilly magnificent bastard mode. Pillage the town! Kill the villagers! Burn the place to the ground! Sell them out to the local bandits! Anything to make the people suffer! And do it all while laughing, you magnificent bastard!

Um, yeah. So...

I believe Yatzee called this one perfectly. The really evil People play as Good Guys, getting themselves a large following, fighting against anyone who could be a threat, and once you've got enough power to ensure nothig can get in your way *clap clap* Bam! Off World Slavery.
basically this.

I prefer to play the villain because you, usually, get more choices in what you want to do in the game. Say you don't like someone and you're a good guy, you can't kill him/her because that's not in your character. If you were evil you could take care of him right then and not have to worry about it. You don't follow the rules, you make them - where allowed by developers. =P

Saving people is fun and all. Being good seems mundane. I want something game related. :)
