They are good. I'll try state at least a paragraph on the ones I've played.
Halo 2:...They added in more weapons which in places made you spoiled for choice and personally I didn't know what weapon to go with as they are all so good. Unfortunately in this game they dropped the Assault Rifle for the Battle Rifle. Difference is Battle Rifle has less ammo is very crappy in this and fires in bursts instead of auto.
To touch on both points(I am by no means trying to defend the game. It had a lot of flaws.) There weren't many good weapons in Halo 2. The Carbine, Battle Rifle, Sniper Rifle(s), Rocket Launcher, and Sword were pretty much the only really 'well used' weapons. On the other point, The Battle Rifle was the replacement for the pistol, and was arguably the best weapon in the game. The SMG was the replacement for the Assault Rifle, and was probably one of the worst weapons in the game.

Story continues being average with massive plot holes with nothing explained to link games. Master Chief magically appears back on Earth with Johnson.
The Prophet had said he was going to 'The Ark' which you later find out is earth. as his ship is entering the atmosphere, The Master Chief jumps from the ship and basically does an in-atmosphere dive. How he survived is anyone's guess.

Shield becomes even more imba with you only being able to take a very smal ammount of shots when it goes down.
According to the canon behind the games, the armor under the shields is only very protective of key areas, the head, chest, groin, etc. Anyone, when filled with enough bullets, would die after only a few shots. The only modifications made to the Spartans was to their bone structure and muscle capabilities. Their internal organs and 'meaty' parts are still the same. They aren't bulletproof or resistant or anything. The plates on the spartan armor aren't just for show, that's pretty much the only place spartans are actually armored.
The knowledge of the armor is only there because i've read all of the books, so yeah.. But the points about the story are fairly easy to pick up on, because they're essentially forced down your throat. In my opinion, Halo has quite a good story, it was one of my favorite parts of the games. But that might also be because i've read the books.. In fact it probably is.
