If you had to give a ballpark estimate, how many people did you kill in all the games you played. Mine would probably be around 4,000,000 because I play a lot of shooters but I don't play too many RTS games(the genre that would probably rack up the highest amount of kills).
by category?

simulators:
probably not many, the odd car crash plane disaster or general mayhem is probably under 5,000

first person games / shooters / rpg's:
hundreds of thousands at least

rts:
billions, i've sent millions of units to their death and crushed civilizations with military might i've created armys of mechs, starships, started revolutions and summoned magic, plagues, meteors and ghosts enslaved the undead into unholy armys to slay countless enemy's on every conceivable battlefield
i've nuked plannets from orbit and blown up space stations
i've used magical artifacts to annihilate entire species, i've used titans and the force of nature to destroy every ancient civilization in existence

i think the digital grim reaper will be busy a while ferrying them all from 1 to 0

I imagine I've bagged over a trillion in my gaming since the 80s.

Many from space strategy games. I've bombed entire worlds clean, and even destroyed entire planets.

I've gotten over 60,000 in Orcs Must Die 2 in the past week and a half. And probably just as many or more Zombies in Left 4 Dead.

Billions, easily. I really hope that Fox News/Moral Guardians don't catch wind of this thread... : )

In civilization, if you raze a city worth about 2 million in population, does that count? if it does, i've probably killed the world 5 times over by this point...

Pfft, Galactic Civilisations 2 and Sins of a solar empire are two games I've played heavily.

And the largest option I have in the poll is *one* billion?
The sight of a Marza Dreadnought or a Vasari bombardment fleet sterilizing a planet is always a sight to see.

With games like Sins of a Solar Empire and Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War my kill count is in the billions.

I'm quite partial to the occasional hour-long Prototype rampage.

That is to say, a fuck-load.

I've played a little flash game called Pandemic 2.
where the victory condition is killing the entire population of the world.

On a purely personal level (where I am directly killing from the point of view of a single character, not commanding others to do it for me), we're talking probably a million kills in FPS's in fact, I know for a fact that I've clocked several hundred thousand across the Halo franchise alone.

*edit* Damn you people are overestimating your kills. Seriously, you haven't killed nearly as many in CoD / Oblivion / Starcraft / insert game here as you think. Unless you play large scale RTS/TBS, it's extremely unlikely you topped 10,000 000. Some of you probably have but still.

I've played Defcon, I've caused famine in Civilization and Masters of Magic, I've led and caused wars in Paradox Games, don't get me even started on Total War, Age of Empires and Starcraft.

It's probably way over several trillions.

I've played some serious amounts of Masters of Orion, Galactic Civilizations, Civilization, Europa Universalis, Total War so I think I can safely say billions. Oh and a odd game of Defcon helps.

lol@similar post above mine.

Many many countless billions.

I played a lot of SIM Earth back in the day...

I was a cruel and spiteful God. I unleashed volcanoes and asteroids just to see the world suffer. Then I would start a new game.

Well, I've likely killed well over a 1000 people today, a fuck load more if you count indirectly, just from doing Spec Ops The Line in one sitting for the past few hours, so theres that.

Fuck man, one just one of my WoW characters I've probably exterminated a few civilizations, let alone across all the ones I currently have, ones that I used to have. So lets say what? 200,000 at the very least?

4X games, where you can literally exterminate entire civilizations rack up a quite a few. Can we use that? Cos if so, I'm pretty sure I'm in the 1000 billions.

The thing is, is there a game where it's possible to snuff out the entire universe? I mean, the player actually doing so as a legitimate option. I must've played one of those.

Well, for me I've been playing since I was around seven, and I don't remember half of the 4x games I've played, but lets just assume my 1.9k hours logged on tf2 are the only game I've ever played, and lets also assume I only get 4 kills every three minutes, which is a massive understatement, that would be around 72k kills, JUST from Team Fortress 2. Which is completely ignoring assists, and all my time playing medic.
