I don't think we need permission, but I do think the option to choose to listen to his speaches or not would be a good one.
were they speeches specifically for school kids or was it speeches about politics? regardless you should have a choicetwistedshadows said:At my middle school, we had to watch some of Bush's speeches as part of the morning announcement. Why should it be any different now? Just because there's a Democrat in office? That's ridiculous and a total double-standard. It's the president speaking, which anyone should be allowed to watch regardless of whether they agree with what he's saying.
Why were you watching the president in school anyway? That's strange. I know he's the president but my school never showed anyone speaking in class. The only time the news was on in school was 9/11.Yoshemo said:At my school, the senior class students were going to watch Obama's speech he made on Wensday. But a bunch of crazy parents complained, saying its propoganda and is brainwashing the children. So instead of dealing with them, they made a permission slip that is needed to be signed in order to watch it. These are 17-19 year old people that need to get mommy's permission to hear our leader talk. This is really pathetic to me. We never needed permission to listen to Bush's idiotic rants
EDIT: I live in Michigan
Technically until your 18 you dont have the right to do anything without your parents consent, so get over it.IdealistCommi said:My school just gave kids the option to skip it. Anyways, that is just bullshit. A senoir has the rightd to choose what he does.
You Win just for using the phrase batshit bonkers.Sovvolf said:I'm just waiting for some one to say yes and to see there reason on why they should, I've got bets on that person being best described as Batshit Bonkers.
still, while your at school your in the care of the school, if one of your crazy parents decides that the school is trying to brainwash you because they "forced" you to watch the speech it could cause them to get sued. So again I say if you were in the same position as the school's you would have done the same thing. So... get over itIdealistCommi said:Well, if you consider that most senoirs should be 18, then they have that right.Digitaldreamer7 said:Technically until your 18 you dont have the right to do anything without your parents consent, so get over it.IdealistCommi said:My school just gave kids the option to skip it. The schools were just covering thier butts, it's lame that they would have to do something like that to keep form getting sued and such. I guess its just the world we live in today
I believe one was directed toward school kids and the rest were about politics, but I'm not positive.Laxman9292 said:were they speeches specifically for school kids or was it speeches about politics? regardless you should have a choicetwistedshadows said:At my middle school, we had to watch some of Bush's speeches as part of the morning announcement.
