WOAH.
This is some old-school imperialist ethno-centrism.

People of the past were no less intelligent than people now. Sure, we have more advanced technology, but how much of it did YOU invent?
actually, studies show that people in the past were actually MORE intellegent. ever since the invention of civilization, the human brain has been getting gradually smaller. thats because civilization makes it easier for people to survive, so the weak/stupid aren't being weeded out as effectively
Um, no. Sorry, but you are just plain wrong, the time since the invention of farming equipment and thus civilization has not been sufficient for human beings to evolve in any major way to it. I haven't invented anything (well, I discovered plenty of things myself, but others got to them before me as I found out later), but there are 6 billion people in this world and most inventions that are simple enough to make with sticks and rock have already been made. Also, REAL studies have shown that world IQ is continually rising, as the scale has to keep being reset to 100 (IQ is mapped on a bell curve) because the average is rising. Don't believe me? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flynn_effect read this, then read the articles they source for it. By 1920 standards, we'd all be super geniuses (well, most of us) and if a person from the 1300s took an IQ test, he'd probably score extremely low (I'd estimate about 75-80ish). Also, "imperialist ethno-centrism" doesn't mean what you think it means, look up each term individually before using something like that.

EDIT: "you" referring to the 2 repliers to the original post.

I do not support established religion, and as far as I'm concerned the Bible is a work of historical fiction equatable to an ancient Dan Brown novel. That said, if Jesus was real and was alive in modern times then he'd sort of be the greatest person alive. I think he'd be as qualified a candidate as you could ask for.

If this is anything to go by, I think we'll all have to vote for him. (If we like living, that is.)

LOL I remember reading that cracked article.

But as cool as those stories are they were written too late to be considered truth.

People would kill Jesus in the name of God...

Also: this really is surprising how many people have no idea what the hell Jesus's message was.
Crist =/= (does not equal) Christianity.

History is so easily muddled. I don't believe I really know anything about Jesus, except that he preached love and peace. So I'd have to hear his campaign speeches before making that choice.

No. It'd be like voting for superman to be president. It makes sense in theory being as he's a good guy, but you should probably take into account that shooting laser beams out of your eyes doesn't make your political decisions any more sound unless they involve eye lasering.

This is a poll I've been curious about; knowing that a good amount of the American population that'll vote for someone because of their religion or how often they say god bless America.

So, Jesus Christ returns and runs for president.
If you need to know anymore, his stances are based on biblical teachings. Love thy neighbor (ie Mexico), gays are bad, etc.
according to the bible jesus would not have forced other religions to do what he says. that is the job of republicans.

That commie bastard? Maybe, assuming his beliefs are as they seem in the bible: forgiveness, social justice, redistribution of wealth.

Edit: But who's he running against? Where do his mid-east loyalties lie? Was he born in Ammurrca? Where's the birth certificate??

Also, the Bible doesn't teach that gays are bad; it teaches that gay acts are bad.
What 2 consensual adults do in the comfort of their own bedroom should be none of the bible's goddamn business.

As for voting for Jesus, i don't think voting for a 2000-year-old human with the views he had would fare well within the modern system of government.
Well, the Bible said gay acts were bad, but Jesus never did. I honestly don't think God cares. God is love, and therefore loves us all! :D
EDIT: After poll, the yes votes are 666! o_O

I disagree. It's not just some book; it's something given to us by an omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient being.

I'm sick of hearing people saying things such as: "God doesn't belong in..." He's God. He's everywhere. If you don't think so, fine. But I definitely disagree with you.

A sin's a sin.
BTW I'm sick of hearing people disliking or hating something because religion/society tells people to. Whatever happened to "God loves all his children"? If you believe in God then you believe he created us all, gays, bisexuals, and trannies included.

Because, you know, it's only Americans on the internet.
this biggest percentage of this site's audience is American, so this is the question that would appeal to the biggest percentage of the people on the forum. I'm not even American and this argument is still petty as heck
