This is a poll I've been curious about; knowing that a good amount of the American population that'll vote for someone because of their religion or how often they say god bless America.

So, Jesus Christ returns and runs for president.
If you need to know anymore, his stances are based on biblical teachings. Love thy neighbor (ie Mexico), gays are bad, etc.
This pretty much sums up my feeling son this topic

Yes.

By the way, Jesus never said gays are bad. Ever. Once. And he often implied that he has an opposite view on them.
I don't have to comment now because someone already posted for me.

Y'know, I don't think I would. My knee jerk reaction was yes, since I'm a very strong Christian, but then I though about it. America is a Republic, based on things like the majority vote for making decisions. Jesus (along with God and the Holy Spirit, that whole trinity thing) is a monarch (at least from my religious standpoint), so I think there would be a schism there that would probably end badly.

Man, I can't believe most people would vote against Jesus.

I mean he's fucking Jesus. He's honest by default. Think about what adding an honest man to politics would be like? It'd be like injecting anthrax into the sterile bubble boy's room.

It'd be interesting at the very least ya?

Yes but he would have to abide by the same rules as everyone else. Even though he'd be "the messiah", he would still have to follow the separation of church and state, allow any religion to practice, and respect the rights we have. Hell, he'd probably be a pretty good president. Good morals, opposed to war, great speaker. The only thing we'd have to worry about would be possible attacks. We don't need him saying "turn the other cheek" when we get attacked.

How would Jesus not make a good President?? Why have so many people voted no?? He would be able to make peace with everybody, there's no telling what he could do! He could disband Al Qaeda within the week if he were elected!

Yes ... especially if he wore a cool pair of sunnies.

Though why is it people assume that Jesus would be at all religious in a conventional Judeo-Christian sense?

I reckon he'd look at all the three arms of Abraham throughout the last 2 thousand years... shake his head ... and then scream "You're doing it wrong!!!".

Then I'd definitely vote for him ...

Not if he's just going to adopt some of his anachronistic policies into modern practice however ...

Advisor:"Jesus, Evilnesia is invading!"
Jesus:"We shall not be inhuman just because other around us are. Do unto others what you want others to do to you."
Advisor:"But theyre killing women and children!"
Jesus:"When they realise their sins, they shall be forgiven."
You do realize that, when he was talking about the sermon on he mound, the idea of "turning the other cheek" at the time would be a grave insult to your attacker, right? He preached non-violence, but he never once preached that you couldn't be an absolute dick to your attackers.
And i'm sure that being a dick to them would totally stop them from killing the women and children.
It all depends on how you do it. There are more ways than just violence to solve a problem.
Errrrrrmmmm. No.

Once the soldiers of evilnesia are in the streets with their assault rifles, killing women and children, the really isn't a none violent way to stop them.
You honestly have no idea how to cut supply lines? No idea how to completely disarm an opponent? You don't know how to stop someone without killing them? Seriously, now you're not even thinking for more than a few moments. Please, do try a little harder.
How would you cut the guarded supply lines without weapons? How would you disarm the squads of deathtroopers? how the FUCK do you stop an ARMY without violence?

A diplomatic solution might be found... In a while, but for now their troops/dragons are in the streets killing women and children.
He's Jesus! Dude had better super powers than Superman.
He'd just snap his fingers and make enemy bow at his feet. Just because the Bible painted Jesus in a good light doesn't mean his is a good person. People forget that the Bible was just a book for answering questions people had at the time.

It's like asking me whether I want the Pope to be president.
The pope isn't perfect...
Neither is someone who decided that dying was the best option.
"My fellow Americans, I have decided to nuke ourselves to repent for our sins. Don't worry, father approves."

Lol @ people saying he didn't exist. He was a real person, whether he did all the stuff that is written about is up for debate.

OT: Sure, he's Jesus and stuff.

Well, if he ran for Prime Minister (Australia!), I'd vote for him.
Hey, he can't be any worse than who we've got now, can he?

No man, jesus probably doesnt know enough about running an economy, lobbying, politics and other presidential competences to pull it off. Sure, he knows how to multiply fish, walk on water and take all the blame for everyone's sins forever in eternity, but does he know enough about real estate and it's value on the economy? When to launch a proper nuke or not? How to handle taxes in order to keep everyone happy enough to put up with those?

Plus religious should remain as seperated from governing a country as possibly. I think Jesus for president wouldn't really help.
