Their plan didn't fail.

See, remember that bit where Eli Roth and the other guy use punch-guns to kill the guards guarding Hitler? Are you saying that wasn't planned, that they simply used magic to get those guns ready?

Nope, it was not magic.

The original plan was to have them plant the bombs and kill Hitler. That plan never failed. They switched plans. They could have planted the bombs and then gotten out of there, but instead they went with the punch-gun approach. Switching plans is not the same as failing

Most definitely not the best I've seen, but also not the worst. Certainly not as funny as they made it look with the trailers, though on the flip-side, plenty of suspenseful drama, if lacking any real energy.

It was slow, boring, and awful. Terentino (I know I'll be flamed for this lol) Needs to stop making films and go to a part of the world so we can forget he exists.
The only thing I give it credit for, is doing the same thing "Valkyrie" did....keeping it so they didn't succeed in killing Hitler.
Dude... the events portrayed Valkyrie really happened. Thats pretty much how the assassination attempt went down. Its based on real events. In Inglorious Basterds they succeed in killing Hitler. Hell they shoot his body to pieces with sub machine guns.

Yeah, I know "Valkyrie" was based on a true story.
Forgive me for forgetting how Basterds ended. I tried to block it's atrocity from memory.
Well given that it was one of the best films of the year, and frankly it was HITLER GETTING SHOT WITH MACHINE GUNS! forgetting what happened seems a bit strange
Avatar was one of the "Best Films of the year" too. I try to forget that exists also.

The dessert scene is where I lost hope and almost walked out. I mean c'mon, they are sitting there forever waiting for something dessert related, and she has her panties in a twist (which is understandable). The point being, I'm just sitting there while they wait for dessert, and I'm not feeling suspense. Nothing even happens on the subject of "yous be a Jew and I's be some crazy Nazi guy that wants to finish the job I started early in this movie". That scene is where I gave up.

...And don't call it plot development, because nothing else on that subject happens again for the rest of the movie. My friend uses that one.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH...

Basically the entire movie went right over your head didn't it?

So what films of 2009 appealed to your amazing and obviously so much more refined than my own tastes?

That was just uncalled for. Look, I got the scene. I got the whole movie. I just didn't care for being bored the whole time (except the scalping).

I thought it was well-written, clever in parts, and had one of the best movie endings I've ever seen. When you can end a film with your protagonist mauling a Nazi's forehead, you've done something right.

Oh, and I forgot something: Bat scene= Hell yes.

Iight, this is only because my friend won't stop bitching about it. He keeps telling me to make this thread so I am. Do you like Inglorious Basterds? I say no. The plot development takes way too long and it results in nothing elaborate. Shosanna or Soshanna doesn't get killed by that guy from the beginning. The Basterds fail their plan. It may be somewhat of a comedy, but I didn't laugh, I just viewed it as stupid, now I'm going to make this a poll and you will agree that the movie sucks solely because I want to tell him that I win. Now vote damn-it!!
I suppose not all people can take that kind of violence, I can't really blame you for not being able to stomach it, not all people can be strong enough to watch that kind of movie, and see that it is funny, and it did have a good story and good acting, though most people do. I personally thought it was funny, and overall great, I guess you didn't get the memo that the parts you thought were serious were actually funny, or you were closing your eyes the whole time. Oh well, every one is entitled to their opinions ;)
You made me laugh, I can stomach all images or violent scenes. I was just bored and the funny parts didn't strike me as funny at all. It also makes me laugh that people are taking me seriously.
Oh Im sure you can, after all your a big boy now, aren't you?

I definitely enjoyed the film. And yes, the way that the poll question is phrased is probably skewing the results.

I think a lot of people went to see it under the impression that it was going to be much more action-filled based on the trailers. But really, you should know what you're getting into with a Tarantino flick. There'll be action, sure, and some pretty violent parts, but a lot of emphasis is placed on dialog.

I never once, said anything about my taste in movies being better than yours. I'm just stating my opinions, and you seem to be getting bent out of shape about them.

I liked parts of it but there were too many scenes of Tarantino saying "Hey, look how much I know about film!" and I found that extremley tedious. That said the final scene is just pure win.

Only problem being the Jewish aren't as intriguing as the English or Germans.

That and that stupid choice of music for the Theatre climax.

I personally liked this movie. I've found that people who dislike this movie only hate it because they didn't quite get the movie. Tarantino's style is something that you either appreciate or you don't.

You're absolutely right. I am avoiding the question. I'm also avoiding a potentially stupid online debate over something as simple as an OPINION.
