It was slow, boring, and awful. Terentino (I know I'll be flamed for this lol) Needs to stop making films and go to a part of the world so we can forget he exists.
The only thing I give it credit for, is doing the same thing "Valkyrie" did....keeping it so they didn't succeed in killing Hitler.
Dude... the events portrayed Valkyrie really happened. Thats pretty much how the assassination attempt went down. Its based on real events. In Inglorious Basterds they succeed in killing Hitler. Hell they shoot his body to pieces with sub machine guns.

Yeah, I know "Valkyrie" was based on a true story.
Forgive me for forgetting how Basterds ended. I tried to block it's atrocity from memory.
Well given that it was one of the best films of the year, and frankly it was HITLER GETTING SHOT WITH MACHINE GUNS! forgetting what happened seems a bit strange
Avatar was one of the "Best Films of the year" too. I try to forget that exists also.
So what films of 2009 appealed to your amazing and obviously so much more refined than my own tastes?
I never once, said anything about my taste in movies being better than yours. I'm just stating my opinions, and you seem to be getting bent out of shape about them.
You are avoiding the question.
You're absolutely right. I am avoiding the question. I'm also avoiding a potentially stupid online debate over something as simple as an OPINION.
I am stupid now? Well that is so nice of you to say.

Not Tarintino's best by any stretch of the imagination (I hold Reservior Dogs, and Kill Bill above Basterds) but its still a good movie. Now as for you. You should be suspended(or atleast put on probation) for wording the poll in such a way to get us to agree when with your opinion of not liking the movie.

LOL, sigh.

Found the movie to be quite "meh". Wouldn't recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it, as I felt robbed (of time and money). I think Tarantino could have done better if he wanted to =/

On a side note: It might be that this movie is made for psychopaths and the likes, because a friend of mine thoroughly enjoyed it (but then again, she also wants to crack the nuts of pedophiles and rapists with a nutcracker o_O)

*puts up Barrier and Shield for safety reasons*

Right before this goes into an arguement, i'm going to bite and ask what films (Con Carne) actually likes? Honest opinion, not trying to turn this into a fight. I'm just interested to see what you'd put.

I absoloutely loved the movie - Christopher Waltz stole the show, but I felt that every other actor held their own, particularly Melanie Laurent, and Brad Pitt was hilarious. I really enjoyed the way the movie was filmed, as well - fantastic cinematography, and the editing in the bar scene was brilliant. Just a fantastic movie, through and through - my favourite Tarantino movie, second only to Pulp Fiction.

i thought the first scene with the Gestapo agent was the best and after that it went a bit meh for me.
still not a bad movie, certainly not a hate.

you may have been too hyped-up before you've seen it, making you hate it now because it does not live up to very high expectations.

why does it matter? he doesn't like Inglorious and Avatar for his own reasons. Why does it matter what other movies he may like?

I'm too tired to think my way through the poll, but I liked it. Well acted, an interesting story, and plenty of action. It was, basically, a really good film. The problem is when it comes to comparing it to other Tarantino films, of which I've enjoyed all I've seen. Although even then, it's one of the better ones!

The dessert scene is where I lost hope and almost walked out. I mean c'mon, they are sitting there forever waiting for something dessert related, and she has her panties in a twist (which is understandable). The point being, I'm just sitting there while they wait for dessert, and I'm not feeling suspense. Nothing even happens on the subject of "yous be a Jew and I's be some crazy Nazi guy that wants to finish the job I started early in this movie". That scene is where I gave up.

...And don't call it plot development, because nothing else on that subject happens again for the rest of the movie. My friend uses that one.
Wait, are you serious? That was the the most suspenseful part of the movie. It's not obvious whether or not Landa recognises Shosanna, and he forces her to keep up the charade of being who she says she is, even while doing things that are calculated to remind her of the death of her family (ordering fresh cream with dessert directly parallels getting a glass of milk from the farmer, etc). He doesn't have to come out and shriek "YOU'RE A JEW!" in her face; the subtlety and cruelty are what make the scene work.
Damn was completely ninja'd there. I agree completely with atalanta. The whole point of that scene was whether or not he was toying with her the entire time about knowing her true identity and the suspense that that brung.

I enjoyed it, even if it was a little dumb at times.

Also, it's really easy to see past your ruse. Double negatives folks, AKA the fourth grade method.

It's Jews killing Nazis. Not too realistic (what, really? Hitler wasn't gunned down and then set on fire and then blown up?) but cool movie all the same.

Anyway, loosely, and I mean loosely, based on a group of British commandos, Troop 10, that was made up of European Jews, who had seen the horrors done to their families, and were involved in some of biggest fights in WW2, most notably D-Day.

Because he singled out avatar and Inglorious and showed dislike towards them. I thought they were some of the better films out last year so i'm surprised is all. Just want to see what his taste in films is like to compare.

The main issue that i had with it was that he tried to do too much in too little time. We never got a chance to actually care about any of the characters, which made all those lengthy dialog scenes very boring. It also didn't help that he tried to make it a comedy movie, and action movie, a spy movie and a drama all in one. And he didn't manage to do any well because of it. If there is one thing that movie needed it was an editor to cut out all the crap. And Colonel Landa needed more time. He was fantastically acted and written.
