Poll: is Friendship is magic worth seeing?

It takes a few episodes to get into the groove, but it's certainly better than a lot of other shows I've been subjected to over the years. Not often that a show whose target audience is young girls is interesting enough for me to keep up with new episodes, but then that's basically the entire story of most of the male audience.

If the idea of a cartoon for girls that gives half an ass about things like character development doesn't make you fall down on your knees in bewildered worship, then not really.
It's pretty okay. Decent. Watchable. See it if you feel like. If you don't, whatever. Nothing of value is missed.

After the first four of five episodes, you should know whether to stop or continue. Don't like it? Stop watching after the first sixth of the season or when you feel you have watched enough to make a definite decision. Like it? Continue watching at your own pace.

An episode is only 22 minutes long. Watching an episode each day throughout an entire week isn't a big loss of time.

Well, setting myself up for a flaming I think, but I've seen a few episodes and...I dunno. It's not magical for me. Just didn't really mesh with me. I don't want to see any more than I have seen.

nobody's going to flame you for trying it and deciding it's not for you. It's the people who, in the words of TV Tropes, complain about shows they don't watch, that really get the goat.

Can you promise me the show is THAT good?

it's been known to alleviate depression somewhat. Depression is a disease now, right?

I REALLLLLY want to start watching it but I would like to watch it with friends so right now I've been planning for the past month to get several of my best friends together so we can watch the first episode and have a great time (possibly recording the results)
I just pray that you guys haven't overhyped this show.
but then again the only way it could match the hype this site has given it is to cure 5 major diseases, put Arrested Development back on the air and banish Micheal Bay into the darkest reachs of space to prevent him making any more movies.
Can you promise me the show is THAT good?

I will help you out by saying you will be underwhelmed until the second episode in which it starts to get bonkers with random musical numbers and an Insane ending

I like the show, but I skip the episodes that are based around the phillies, I don't like them.

From a standpoint it depends on your own person, and your attitudes towards things that would be considered feminine. Many guys would feel emasculated by watching a show that would be for girls from a traditional sense. Though this mentality is kinda odd, and subtly sexist. However, if you think you have a strong sense of identity, and don't have any bad feelings towards products that are considered girlish, then by all means, check it out.

Arrested Development's new season starts early 2012, Bay announced that Transformers will be his last movie, and scientists around the world joined together, cured cancer (don't jump for joy too soon) and are coming close to finding more cures.


Anyway, it's probably not a good idea to start with the pilot. It'll give you the wrong impression about the show.

I guess another way of putting that is, if you want to invest however many hours of your life watching something just for it to go out of style a couple of months from now, then I guess that's your call. But sooner or later it's going to be like 80's fashion, something that seemed like a good idea at the time, even though it clearly wasn't.

Right, because a show is only worth watching if everyone else likes it. That makes perfect sense.

And you received answers, which is generally what happens when one asks. In this case many of the answers were rather terse, because this question has been asked many times. This thread is the interrogative equivalent of "The cake is a lie!" jokes. It was great once, but now everyone's just sick of it.
