If you know how to use it, then I don't see any problem with you owning one.

Guns are only a tool that can be used to kill people; without malice (or stupidity) behind the trigger, people aren't going to die.

As long as you follow basic hunter safety concepts I don't see a problem with that (Don't point the gun at anything you don't intend to shoot, always treat it as loaded.) I think he's being irrational. Everyone should own a gun imho, I think the world would have less problems that way.

op:Some kids around here get tuaght how to handle and use guns around 8, gun safety first shoot'in stuff 2nd to learning how to skin what you kill.

All in all you need to klearn gun safety and knowledge befor you own a gun.

Guns are nothing more than tools and IMO we need more resrectins and harsher rules for drivers than "legal" gun owners..............

I would like to see you try and take that freedom away from us. You will have to pry my gun out of my cold dead hands.
Guns were fine at the time, but in this day and age? Probably one of the few reasons guns haven't been outlawed in America already is that it would be near impossible conisdering the number of them in circulation.

Poll options here are severely limited, so I'll go with my own question... why do you want a gun? Just for the sake of having it? That's a big monetary investment, and kinda pointless if you aren't going to use it constantly. It'd be like buying an electric guitar, and then just hanging it up on your wall to look at 'cause it's cool, not that you'd actually use it.

If you can convince your parents as to why you actually need a gun, and that you are willing to pay, maintain, and conduct upkeep on it, go for it. But it's a pretty big responsibility. Why not just buy a paintball gun? Now THOSE you can have fun with... >=D

edit again: i want to get one for target shooting and i can get one with parents consent.
Mother's boyfriend tend to be crazy cunts soI'd ignore him, but I would say wait a while at least until your'e 17 before you buy a gun.

I don't agree with *everyone* exactly; everyone who doesn't have a criminal record sits a bit better with me.

Surely it's not legal for a 16 year old to have a gun! At 16 I had almost no control over myself, if I wanted someone dead I may have acted on it.

What? You're calling him ignorant because he thinks a 16 year old shouldn't be allowed a gun? Of course he has a bloody point, if you're not judged responsible enough in the eyes of the law have a nice, refreshing beer or fuck someone then I don't how you can be possibly be responsible enough to own something which is designed with the sole purpose of killing shit.
the javelin was designed to kill people yet they're used at high schools swords were and people still fence. if its locked up its as harmless as a big expensive stick
Big, EXPLOSIVE stick, and you'll note that Javelins are only used in high schools in the USA in North America, and the reason people still fence is because the points are balled.
you may be right about the fencing but the gun CANT GO OFF if its locked, there is no way unless the incredible hulk broke in my house
Yeah, but what if the rounds are improperly stored?
rounds are like gas mix them with something they get dangerous but alone there pretty harmless look at this modern round http://lonelymachines.org/guns/bullet.png that hole must be hit very hard with something less the size of a pin
Ever watched Mythbusters?
They put ammunition in an oven, the results were explosive to say the least.
That is borderline ridiculous. Plenty of things could be put in a microwave or oven with a disastrous outcome. You would have to assume that the gun owner in question was at least the slightest bit of a responsible person.

I seriously don't see the benefit of mastering a lethal weapon, that is much more dangerous than other weapons like bows, or knives or w/e. There is no reason for you to have a gun in your vecinity.

When people get really mad, there shouldn't be a weapon around that can kill a man in a heartbeat, without having to actually do something besides pushing a little metal switch. It's too easy, compared to doing something physical.

The right to bear arms is retarded. No one should be able to take someones life like that, especially not (16 year old) civilians. I have no problems with target shooting, as long as the guns are supervised and you're not able to take them home with you.

It's happened, say someone in your family who doesn't own guns decides to store it, loaded, in the oven, someone in your house decides to preheat the oven...

I just pictured you sat in a chair holding a rifle, staring at the door, waiting for trouble. Seriously, guns aren't necessary for these things any more.

Yes, and I'm sure you'd act responsibly. Unfortuantely, most people are fucking idiots.

Gun laws in the U.S. are stupid as hell. SO many people die due to guns compared to other countries.

So no, I don't think you should get a gun.
You're high, it's because of right to bear arms that lets us americans, espically in Wyoming, sleep comfortably in our beds and if any person illegaly breaks that sleep then they are turned into swiss cheese. It isn't the gun but the person. And chances are that a murder or crack dealer got that gun illegally anyway.

Yeah, but look at Canada, gun crime is extremely low because guns are tightly regulated and such.
