I'm not trying to be mean, Im just asking you to think about it. The hobo could sell the silverware to buy food (by silverware I mean the good stuff you take out once every couple of months for fancy dinner parties). Humanity is a species of cold hearted bastard's. Despite the fact that we really don't need our expensive silverware we are not just going to let people get away with stealing it, even to feed their families. Unless your living on the street yourself I don't know how you can take that viewpoint.Rednog said:What possible reason would he have for stealing all my silverware? Stealing all of my silverware would clearly make me feel an impact and thus be against what I said.Markness said:Would you be ok with a hobo coming into your house and stealing all your silverware?Rednog said:To me stealing is only justified in certain situations, such as in a person who cannot afford food to live and they steal from some one who won't feel an impact of the item being gone. In the walmart case no, your friend is just trying to justify his actions for free crap.
I think it entirely possible to justify the action of stealing in some situations. Note that I'm not justifying everyday theft or his friend, I think that on average people steel out of greed and not need.
err. On topic : Yeah stealing is wrong, it's against the law, it'll never be socially acceptable to steal from anywhere in developed countries etc.
