Is it hell weird.

If a movie has come out that I really want to see and my friends are working/busy at that very moment i'll go on my own.

I'm impatient, I don't like waiting.

Of course not. It's been a really long time since I last went to the cinema with someone. I go to see a movie, not to socialise. Besides, talking in the theatre is really annoying and kind of rude, so having a friend with you doesn't add much to the experience anyway.

I seem to be the odd man out here. I would never want to see a movie alone. I'd feel so awkward.

call me a little defensive over this but NO not at all

I go to the movies not as a social thing (lets face it Im not that soical) but to go out and watch a movie..."experience" it, Im also quite anal about the movies I go see in the cinema so I dont like having others input

not to say that I wont go with others...I will but if I want to go see somthing Ill go see it...fuck'em

I havnt been keeping up with the movies latley..so theres not much I want to see

I thought about saying that, but I don't go see bad movies. I wait for the DVD.

Hmmm...this is the breaker...a bad movie has to be experienced by a crowd. A good movie can be watched on your own.

No, it's not.

However, to put it in context, it also isn't a cool, alternative or independent thing to do.

Going on your own is normal. You want to see the movie, the theater is showing the movie so you go watch it. Nothing more to it.

Going with friends who also want to see the movie is positive. You want to see the movie and spend time with your friends, being the smart guy/gal you are you combine the two in one great enjoyable activity. Watching a movie you want to see, sharing it with interested friends and allowing them to share it with you all in one evening!

Going with friends who don't really want to see the movie is just a bit sad. On one hand, that's what friends are for. To help you out when you need it. On the other hand, it means you've still got some growing up to do. It's something that I think you can reasonably expect adults to have grown past by now.

Nope, when there is a movie I really want to see, I often go see it alone. Best way to appreciate it, if you ask me.

I don't really like watching movies that have to be seen with friends. There's a lot of bad movies that I genuinely like, but I don't usually watch bad bad-movies. Even when watching them with other people, I can't see the appeal. I need my movies to be watchable alone, whether they're good or not.

I love going to the cinema, it's an excuse to sit in the dark and eat candy. I find it hard to rate any movie I've seen simply because I enjoy the experience so much. I've never gone to the cinema alone, but I do often go with only one other person, mainly so I can talk about the movie afterwards in the car.

Rocky Horror Picture Show needs a crowd. Any film that has you screaming at the screen really needs people to scream along with you. The Room has to be experienced with friends. I won't say enjoyed, but what a show.

Twiglet is only tolerable if seen with someone else who really loathes it.

Not really, but I can't say that I've ever done it. It's not that I think it's weird, just that half the fun of going to see a movie is going with friends.

I know, but I don't watch that kind of movies, I don't like screaming at the screen. I'm a quiet guy, I don't even laugh out loud no matter how funny a movie is, I just smile. Of course, it can be more enjoyable to see a movie with people, but I don't want it to be a requirement to having any fun.

It's not weird, but I don't like going alone anyway. I feel awkward, uncomfortable and lonely. I won't watch a movie if I don't have anyone to go with (which is tragically often), even if I really want to see it. Going to the cinema has always been something that you do with a friend, for me.

Nope, although I can't imagine doing that. I prefer watching movies with friends, but going to the cinema alone is no different to lying on your couch with a dvd at home.
Gah! you watch DVDs at home, freak... Just kidding.

I wouldn't do it much but if it was something I really wanted to watch and all my friends were out of town or like in your case someone cancelled (It'd be a bit funny if you saw her there doing the same as you).

My advice: Heed or Ignore. Grab some friends, have a few drinks (merry...not further) then go and see a "shouty" film. You'll be acutely embarrassed afterwards but have the time of your life. Just make sure it's one of those that people know the rules.

Just awesome.

Anyways, it's not generally weird to go see a movie on your own, though some are more fun to go in a group to see (particularly if you and the group have a tenancy to sing along when your favourite parts of the movie come up. At least then you know you'll be fairly well in synch).
