I use a wireless mouse and keyboard on my couch with my 52 inch tv playing Battlefield Bad Company two. Being forced to use a tiny controller is what I consider uncomfortable.
I completely agree...well except the 52 inch, that would destroy my already-weak eyes :)

Leatherate office chair with soft arm pads, jumper on the back and a soft desk surface infront of the Keyboard and mouse,
I can sit in my chair all day, maybe go for a few runs up and down the stairs to ease the muscles..
Although console gaming can be more comfortable lying on a bed or in a gaming chair but I still prefer PC

On a side note my uncle has a whole room dedicated to his PC with a massive projector screen and really soft sofas in an arc facing the screen.. With a wireless keyboard/mouse and a box of pizza.. It out does any console..

Well... I don't find PC gaming uncomfortable... I have a nice chair (With some spare cusions on it) room under my desk for my legs, room to my left for my legs and things to place them on (A 3 foot high stack of unusable PC games...) and a sofa to my right to rest my legs on. I often PC game while lying down (Sometimes I have my legs on the backrest of the sofa so I'm lying down with my legs in the air)

Now console gaming? That's uncomfortable... Having to sit either upright on my sofa in a certain area to get the best view or knelt down infront of the TV (As close as I normally am to my monitor...) I can't lie down due to resting on my arm restricts movement and blood flow (So I can't play properly) or my neck starts to hurt because I cannot lean on my arm when lying down on the sofa (Wheras on my PC my neck is supported by the back of my chair/pillows behind my head)
I suppose it's just the way the area around my PC is set up that makes it uncomfortable. Seeing as I really have no way of stretching my legs, I get disoriented and usually cold. Since my TV is a little close when I'm on consoles I don't feel like it's hard to see.

It's not just what I'm sitting in either. IMO, holding a controller for longer periods of time doesn't seem to bother me as much as it does when I have my hand in WASD stance.

Let's face it, PC gaming is uncomfortable. Don't get me wrong, there are many games I prefer on the PC to consoles, but I feel as though the only reason I don't play for longer periods of time is because I can only stand to sit in a chair for a little while, especially at night. It's not like my chair is uncomfortable either, I would just rather lay in bed and play games. Is getting what is usually favored as the "better" gaming experience worth sacrificing our comfort?
Haha, I have the same thought. Sometimes after a long day of work I just want to lie down and play games. So I play on my XBOX because I can lie down. I've been meaning to see if i can get a wireless keyboard/mouse and a detachable monitor to play from the couch.

I can't believe we are at the point in history when people see no problems with being too lazy to sit in a chair.
That's exactly what I thought.

But my computer chair broke. I have a nice comfy recliner to sit in. ...I have no problems.

I cannot lie down and play games. My eyes just can't concentrate on it. I have to sit bolt upright. Also, my back feels funny if I hunch and sit on the bed so I'm better off using a chair. I suppose this is why gaming on the pc is fine for me.

You lost me.

You should make some adjustments to your battlestation, padre. It's easily as comfortable as me sitting on the couch.

While it's not the optimum choice for cost-effective gaming hardware... buy a laptop.

Problem solved.

A good chair, a well-positioned keyboard and mouse, and ready access to the chicken nuggets. What more could you possibly want? I love my PC---far better, to my eyes, than console gaming from a comfort point-of-view (because when playing console games I tend to lean in toward the TV...the ergonomics are all wrong because I'm used to the "one man, one screen, total lock-step communication between man and machine" style that PC gamers tend to adopt.)

Personally I do prefer PC, but I use 360 gamepad + Xpadder (for older games without 360 pad support) However, I have PC gamed in a bed, I have PC gamed in a chair, I have PC gamed on the toilet, I will PC game everywhere. (thanks Dr Suess) So its really about the situation and configuration. Any of them are doable.

For example, When I worked in EMS, I had a friend who was confined to his bed for 6 weeks after being in a car accident. I picked up one of those hospital rolling dinner tables that slide under and over top of the bed for him and rigged up his PC to be attached to the base of it. That way he could have a desktop in bed.

But I dont think PC gaming is inherently more uncomfortable, again its all about the circumstances. I know I hate desk chairs period. There simply not solid enough for me and I always feel like Im going to fall back in it. So, I took an old throne style chair, and put casters on it, and Played at my desk like that for well over 3 years.

Adaptability is key.

I just wish my desk was easier to manage then my coffee table. Overall I could sit at my computer for days without horrible discomfort. Actually now that I think about it playing on a console is usually more uncomfortable. I can never get the right position on my couch and push the buttons and watch the tv. Plus my tv is relatively far away from my couch I have to sit on the floor to play our ps2. So meh.

You need to find the joys of a nice computer chair; I?m sure some of them even have reclining capabilities. Personally I don?t lay down when playing games anyway so I wouldn?t really know if it?s worth it or not for you. I do wonder if there?s some sort of problem there if sitting in a chair is enough of an issue for you to be asking this question.

Actually, it's getting to the point that one could just hook his/her computer up to a tv using a standard monitor cable, course it's not perfect, you have to adjust the picture settings somewhat and if you use a rgb-whatever you may run into problems with scaling, I know there are some video cards with a s-video or hdmi out, but I haven't tried that yet.

I always lay down when playing consoles, or when playing on my laptop. I don't really like sitting upright because it isn't comfortable for me after a long period of time, so laying down is almost always the only option for me.
