"Is PC gaming worth the discomfort?
Yes, I can't use a mouse if I'm laying down.
No, I'd rather use my controller and be lazy on consoles."

soooo... where is the PC gaming option?

I can't lie down for longer periods of time (reading and such) because it hurts to arch my back that way for too long. Sitting in a chair though I've no issues with.

And flamebait detected.

I never found PC gaming uncomfortable, but i found it could be more comfortable, so i lowered my rig down about a foot and bought a gaming chair. my console is at the foot of my bed, but i find i sit on my bed rather than lay on it anyway, lying on it is uncomfortable and even sitting up i need to place my pillow behind my back, and still it can get uncomfortable... im my experience gaming on a pc has always been more comfortable.

I cant play my console laying down, I cant concentrate properly when doing so, but I do sit in my chair with my legs raised on my desk and kind of sit on my lower part of my back rather than my ass which after a while causes some discomfort but that's my fault

Console gaming is so uncomfortable because my socks don't fit right.
I have been giggling about this statement for almost 2 hours. I really got nothing else to add. I find the reason behind the topic ridiculous but to each their own I guess.

EDIT: Wait I guess I do. How about a laptop? /thread?

I can't believe we are at the point in history when people see no problems with being too lazy to sit in a chair.
completely agree ... although it is heartening to see that 2/3 of the replies here have been "um, wtf .. I don't have that problem"

My PC is in front of my couch. If I want to stretch out, I stretch out. Like I'm doing as I type this.

I don't think it's a matter of doing it wrong so much as not being used to it.

I can't game lying down because my eyes are a joke. I can't see screens without ridiculous amounts of neck strain. So me? I love chairs.

I also fidget a lot and don't sit still, so that doesn't give me much of a chance to get uncomfortable. If I do have any problems, it will be a headache due to eye strain before anything else.

I'm sitting on my futon right now in front of a PC, and it feels damn nice.
As an excuse to stop PC gaming/prop up consoles, "discomfort" is pretty damn laughable.

I have a bad back (runs in the family) and I have my computer by my sofa. The monitor is on a fold out table in front of me and the keyboard is on my lap. It is actually quite comfy. Or I use my laptop and play games sat in bed.

I said "yes", mostly because it's not uncomfortable for me, so...
...
Not sure where to go from here...

Tried out one of our lounge chairs one time, with reclining abilities. If it wasn't lower than the desk, I'd still be using that. For now though, I've just got a good chair with a high back to it and mild-reclining ability.

EDIT: Not sure if it helps discussion with the topic, but I too have often gamed on my PC for hours on end during one of my days off... Still no discomfort. >_>

It doesn't matter if I'm on PC or console, I sprawl. It's comfortable, it makes me look like a relaxed mook in some low-budget 80s/90s action movie right before the good guy comes in and everything goes to shit, and it's comfortable. So no, PC gaming isn't full of some magically inherent discomfort.

Also, I'm awesome.

Also, the captcha Cauchmen Iris is kind of awesome. Almost a band name. But not as awesome as me. Have a good day.

Also, captchas are still annoying.

Even my desktop was set up so I could lay in bed before it died. Now I use a laptop. I gave up sitting at a desk a long time ago. But even when I did sit at a desk I had a very nice business grade chair, not one of those fake padded ones that are so common today. I have been in other chairs and I have no idea how anyone can sit in one of them for any time at all.
There isn't even an answer for me...

Also keep a microphone on your desk.

Wha--this is totally subjective. I bought a wonderfully nice computer chair that is very comfortable to sit in. And if I don't want to use that, I have a perfectly good sofa I can lounge on, put my monitor on the coffee table, kick back and relax.

Or I can do what I usually try now--grab my wireless keyboard and mouse and play standing up. If you call sitting around in a chair uncomfortable, I worry what standing up must be considered, heh!

Anywho, I thought this would be able time and difficulty in getting games to work or something, not actual physical comfort. Don't people play console games sitting on their asses as well?

Let's face it, PC gaming is uncomfortable. Don't get me wrong, there are many games I prefer on the PC to consoles, but I feel as though the only reason I don't play for longer periods of time is because I can only stand to sit in a chair for a little while, especially at night. It's not like my chair is uncomfortable either, I would just rather lay in bed and play games. Is getting what is usually favored as the "better" gaming experience worth sacrificing our comfort?
I always prefer to play on my xbox because I can sit on my couch and hours go by without even feeling it.
On the other hand, PC gaming is a chore for me, because although I have a comfortable chair, I get pretty bad back and wrist aches.
I guess it just depends wether you are a really big fan of PC exclusives like mostly MMOS and games like Counter Strike, and if you have an adamantium skeleton that causes no pain.
