I got a PSP at launch. I had to take it back 4 times till I got one with out dead pixels. Got bored with it fast and traded it in for a DS and never looked back.

The PSPGo just seems silly it doesn't have a UMD player right? At least when Nintendo updated the DS it can still play the old games and hell it could even play the Gameboy games.

PSP never died, best hand-held by miles, a huge pile of great games with even better ones coming out all the time, (Dissidia) with GT5 coming out, plus LBP PSP can only go up for me, its a console im exited about for sure.

The PSP never died. It's actually done rather well, but the DS and its more family-centered alignment would make it seem like the PSP has a snowball's chance in Hell. The stranglehold Nintendo has on the handheld market is keeping the PSP from reaching its full potential.

PSP may be killed by the PSPGO at this rate
Evidence? Remember that Sony said that the PSP-3000 will still be in production and UMDs will still be made for them.
MAY! MAY! I do not have ESP

anyway my THEORY is that by having 2 forms of PSP games they will make less profit and the PSP will slowly die

THEORY!!!!!!!!!!!
Your theory makes no sense whatsoever.
If they lose money trying to support two platforms at the same time it could kill both.

The PSP Go will still play the same games, but it will require either online purchase and download, or a converter to upload UMDs (so I've heard). Either way, it will play the exact same games, but deliver them in a different way depending on how you like to get your games. It is NOT a separate console in that sense, but whether it'll be a success is another matter.

err, I've got something's to tell all you nice people. the PsP is far from dead - I've got a ds and psp and at the moment I get much more use from the psp.

Monster Hunter FU, Castlevania SOTN, Soul Calibur BD, Guilty Gear X2, Crash Bandicoot 3 and Command and Conquer retaliation. I can't get enough of it.

Also, this might be news somewhere else on the forum, but there is a confirmed rumour of a massive amount of ps2 games and DREAMCAST(!!!1) games coming to it.

Also Way of the Samurai and Zone of Enders is being released for it soon.

So dead? I think not. Far from it.

Honestly the PSP, in my mind, has been dead for quite a while. It has like what 15% of the handheld market share right? I actually have a free PSP that I don't use...but then again I'm not much of a handheld guy anyways. If I ever do find I have free time in a car or something I'll use my phone to browse the web or play some peggle.

How about "PSP was never alive to begin with"?
I support this idea. I mean..If I have a console and pc at home..why the hell would I want to play games when I go outside..to do something ..outsidey. maybe just for a road trip or smtn but that's an isolated case

What with Nintendo DS having 80% market share over the PSP from the get-go I'd say it was never born! At least not completely realized. I don't think the PSPGO will be different, especially with many retailers boicotting it.

Sony is slowly killing itself one shot in the foot after another. Were it not for their cell phone sales, they'd be bust by now.
WOW.. You have effectively killed some of my braincells. How can you even say something like Sony is still alive because of their cellphone sales. Have you ever ben inside a freakin electronic store. And how can you state that the DS have 80% of the handheld market.
Next time try to get your facts straight before you make these mind boggling statements.

The PSP was never really dead, but it also was never strong. I actually have very recently gotten interested in getting one (although I'm leaning towards an older model and not the Go simply for price reasons).

I don't see how they'd lose money in either areas.

I've never really cared for handheld gaming so I cant really answer this, but i will say there is almost a 50/50 split of Ds's and Psp owners amongst people I know.

It should have had 2 analogue nubs, should have used large capacity carts, should have had a better battery, and should not have been touted as a multimedia device like an iPod with games an just as a gaming unit. It's not dead, but it seemed like Sony was good and sure to break it's legs from the start. Even worse is the halfassery we're getting in our games on this thing. Soul Caiber is a joke, Metal Gear Ac!d should never have been made, and pushing adhoc as opposed to more online playability have all been fine examples of what not to do.

No, dissidia just came out which is fucking awesome. Plus it has monster hunter.
Very much of this!

Not to mention Gran Turismo is FINALLY coming to PSP (and launching for GO) after being supposed to being a launch title for the orginal PSP. The PSP is very much an aquired taste, and is also a platform that many franchises do something completely off the wall different to what they normally do (ex. Metal Gear, Silent hill, Final Fantasy, Killzone etc.) a lot of people refuse to accept these differences and just hate on them cause its nothing of 'more of the same' that they were expecting.

I have a PSP, I love it, I never leave the house without it +3 games.

I'll be getting the PSPgo... mostly because It'll be my birthday gift, making it free, and because nothing else too good is coming out...

Plus, there's Disgaea on it. You can't beat Disgaea as a portable game. It's like it was made for it... I love Disgaea ><

Honestly, the only thing that ever gave the PSP life was the fact that it is/was hackable and could run emulators and ripped copies of original Playstation games. Outside of that it's basically a system made for remakes with very little else to provide.
