I'm skinny as hell... I don't really mind it, as I don't care how I look, but in my case it did (and still does, though not quite as badly since I started swimming) make me look realllly disproportionate due to its combination with my height and such. If that's the case and you care to change it, find a sport you enjoy; let me recommend swimming as the best sport ever.

When I was in school, I would get picked on by fat guys, whereas most fat guys wouldn't be bothered because of their weight. Really confuses me, considering how much importance society attaches to weight and weight loss.
Simple, the fat guy is the one you don't want problems with, since his weight could be a decisive factor in a fight. And because society pays a lot of attention to weight and weight loss, they generally have learned to cope with it and make it a life-style.

I am not really skinny, used to be though. I'm 24 now, and have a BMI of 23. There's not a lot of fat on my body, but I do have some muscles.

Are skinny guys attractive? Depends on how much importance you want to give to appearance. Skinny guys could be attractive, and they could be ugly, still depends on a lot of different other things.

It's all about presence. I know plenty of skinny guys, usually a skateboarder or some kind of douchebag, who get massive amounts of pussy. I also have plenty of rather big friends who get women by the truckload, but they are actually big meat heads who probably crave fighting more than fucking. So what I am trying to say is that if you want to go on a John Mayer Fuck-a-Thon, be a massive douchebag, pick up the guitar and buy some condoms.

In all seriousness though, you are 23, and you are around the age when people grow out of a pure shallow mindset and start thinking about other factors. If you are (or were) a college student and are looking for a rather decent job, that's attractive. If you don't spend your day whining and complaining, that's attractive. If you are reasonable on most aspects in life i.e. not making mountains out of molehills while still not letting people push you around, that is attractive.

Although there is something to be said about being too skinny. If someone is so skinny that they are constantly being compared to a boy just hitting puberty, well then you might have a problem. Check your BMI (Body Mass Index) see if you are at a healthy level (between 18 and 25) and figure it out from there. Or you could just start dating 14 year old girls and have a leg up because you drive, and if they are like the 14 year old girls I know, you won't have trouble getting laid
I declare thee winner of thread. My BMI is around 18 to 18.5, according to Wii Fit (which I use about three times a week: me = nerd). However, my original point wasn't necessarily about everything that could make a person attractive, just about physical appearance. Shallow, yes, but I was simply curious. I already figured most people would opt for the boring "muscle man" or "middle of the road" choices, so I left them off the poll.

Thirteen years ago I weighed 130 pounds on my 5'11" frame. First year out on my own, let's just say the ability to afford food was not a consistent part of my life.

I've gained 50 pounds in the 13 years since (yes, I WAS that severely underweight). Women seem to really like my frame with some meat on it. Contrast with the reaction of girls back then: "Dude, EAT SOMETHING!"

I'm kind of an extremist on the skinny front; Judging males by attractiveness, I'd go for someone skinny, perhaps toned at best. Nothing anorexic, though. Keep those ribs hidden.
What about individual features? A boy with nice hips, maybe? That'd be nice. Males just don't end up labeled "curvy" like women with some actual definition are.

Then again, I can think of all of two males I know who would actually want to be called curvy.

Overly skinniness (which is what I think you're referring to) is just as bad to me as a someone who's overweight.

Someone who's super skinny just looks sickly and like they just don't care about themselves enough to stay nourished.

On the other hand, when someone's way overweight, that shows they over indulge themselves and still don't care about the way they look. You also have to factor in genetics of course, but that's beside the point.

My main point is, no, skinniness to me does not look good. A girl who's thin or is a healthy weight looks better to me than someone who looks like Kate Moss.

Huh. Color me surprised with the gender role for this quiz.

Of course I agree that physical appearance should be the last thing people think of when selecting a mate. However, I would like to point out that while many women are attracted to skinny men, this sometimes makes a girl more self-conscious of her own body issues, most notably the presence of a little extra jiggle where her partner may have none.

I'd rather have someone average, but yeah, when it boils down to it, I like skinny guys more than the chunkier ones.

Goddammit, now I feel shallow for admitting that.
There's nothing shallow about being aware of your preferences.

If you can see your ribs while breathing out, you're too skinny. In my opinion anyway.
Great decisive answer.

Unfortunately, I have to hang around a lot of girls that think male should have 0.00001% body fat and wear make up to be attractive, but I think it's retarded and I can't imagine most girls thinking that. When you say skinny... do you mean, like, anorexic? 'Cause I can't imagine... but I think most girls like 'slim'.

Everyone like a little cushion for the pushin'.
I used to believe a skinny girl was the end-all be-all, but as I get older, slightly heavier girls are looking more and more appealing. Right angles and sharp edges are the opposite of sexy. Of course, I'd take it if I could get it, but that's an entirely different personal issue for me. Then again, this thread was about guys. From what I've been told, women don't always focus on the physical aspects of a man, at least not consciously. Again, mere curiosity.

i think a guy should have a little meat on him and a girl should be a little thin.....not so much that she looks like a pretzle stick.

I always sort of thought that! I remember a couple I knew from high school (they did drugs). The male lost a ton of weight from doing meth, but the girl only lost about half that amount. He told me she was really self conscious about it. On the other hand due to biology and child birth, you're probably more likely to see large women with skinny guys, than the other way around. In those cases, the "pursuit" aspect has ended, though.

Yeah skinny is better for guys than large. Although that is speaking very shallowly and using a skinny guy compared to comic book guy fatness. When I voted it came out to 73-72 for skinny. Tie breaker!

So here's my main question. Do women think skinny guys are good looking? Would they rather have a fat, or somewhat chunky guy? Someone with "meat on his bones" so to speak. I swear I get way more (direct) shit from people about being thin than anyone ever gets for being fat. Strangers seem to think I'm 14 when I'm actually 23.
Dude, if you grew a shitty beard, wore tight jeans, and held a guitar, you would be the quintessential "panty-melter." This is what thin guys do. I see it all the time in bars and at shows. A thin sweater/collared shirt also helps make you look grounded and less "punk."

BUT you did say you don't judge yourself on "playa" terms, for which I commend you. Still, understand that thin guys can look really good if they put effort toward it, just like anyone else who understands how to make themselves look good. Probably harder if you're overweight, so be thankful!

Oh, and a beard WOULD make you look older, as well as make your face less gaunt, if that's an issue. I mean a full beard like is popular among the "indie" crowd lately, not meticulously trimmed ones.

Oh, and rolling up sleeves helps make your arms look bigger at the bicep area (if you care (you secretly might)). Forearms are supposed to look thin.

Skinny people get picked on because fat people have become the majority in America. I've always been skinny, but am starting to develop a gut, so I'm getting the worst of both worlds.
